Just the
mention of a tree rat sends my dachshund Nigel out the dog door in full battle gear. LOL

Between the tree rats and pecan obsession, my dachshund runs me nuts when outside!

You named your Dachshund Nigel. Great name! I have a Dachshund mix and she flies out the door after those squirrels eating the bird seed.
Here's another funny website on squirrels. Squirrel Hazing.

Oh, your dog is a pecan bandit, too? Both of ours try to mug the squirrels every chance they get. I've owned dogs all my life, and I'd never seen - or known - that dogs could so deftly shell a nut and eat it. One of ours learned to get on the chair and help himself to the bowl of mixed nuts on the kitchen table. LOL Their first choice seems to be walnuts, but the pecans disappear pretty quickly, too. We're forever picking up shells off the carpet. Oh, well, if it makes them happy....... :-)

Yep-she's a pecan bandit. She can crack one, shell it and eat the insides lickety split. I never get any pecans between her and the other yard critters.
