Is that IPA as in India Pale Ale, or a brand name? I've had many an India Pale, but it can't hold a candle to lager. Lager is the gold standard.

One can purchase it on draft here for less, cost isn't the issue. Most people cannot drink it.

I had many a San Miguel Pale Pilsner in the Philippines and it was actually very good, not to mention very inexpensive.

I liked it, but it is the last beer I'll drink at an airport!

The India Pale Ale style of beer. The closest you can get to that with a lager is Sam Adams or a crisp pilsener.

Efes... Turkish beer I useed to drin in that country. Not bad... the Turks learned brewing from the Germans.

As for Stella..... just about every little town in Belgium has local brews. Some of the monasteries are still actively brewing. Same in Germany. Can't remember that being the case in Holland - Heineken, Brand, and Amstel seem to dominate the country.

Sam Adams [Beantown] Lager is a great brew. Stay away from their Cream Stout though; nasty stuff.

Although off subject a little, another thing I like is Cruzan Rum Cream, especially as a nightcap. Might be too sweet for the manly-men among us, but I love it.

Pabst? Piss Ass Beer Sorry Taste? That Pabst? :) BTW, I just got back from the store and I almost got a six of Harp Lager, but St. Pauli Girl was right next to it and I decided to go with what I knew to be great. I'm enjoying one as I "speak" while cooking Johnsonville Polish on my George Foreman grill. Delicious!

OK, here's my 2 cents (Three cents, actually)

Number one been, in my book is Cruzcampo, from Seville, Spain. Pislner beer, all around great!

Harp, Becks or any of the Brit Lagers are pretty good, if you like a heavy lager. Same goes for Sam Adams.

We Okies, and those guys from Baja Oklahoma (who insist on calling them selves Texans), have been consuming great quantities of Shiner Bock for several years now. IMHO, it is truly the finest beer going! Try it, it is getting around the country far and wide. Anmbrosia, Nectar from Heaven, the Urine of the Gods. All these terms apply!

Burp!! Think I'll have 'nother!

I've had Shiner Bock and it is great. But I'll take Sam's Beantown Lager. I'll look for Cruzcampo; haven't had it.

Palma Luoco (Wild Palm) beer. From Brazil. NONE BETTER!!! And don't think it is easy to find. Even most Latin markets don't carry it but it is BY FAR the absolute BEST beer I've ever tasted.

I'm sampling some "Tusker" from Kenya right about now, a very good beer, and I have traveled Europe from high to low including eastern europe and have tasted quite a few.

Beats the hell out of Zambezi
