I was shocked. I think he's giving Bin Ladin way too much credit. Bin Ladin may be smart, as Sabato says, but he doesn't understand our country. He's more interested in getting us to cut and run than in recruiting more nutcases to his cause.

What is insane here is that both believe the tape was to get Bush elected because it helps with recruits.

Really?

So, the bombing in Italy was to get the conservative elected and it backfired? Right? (I mean that would have gotten them more recruits).

Yeah, I saw some of that. I saw the interview with Bush campaign spokesman Ken Mehlmen and Kerry campaign spokesman
(forgot his name...)
Zahn was frothing at the mouth at Mehlmen, practically scolding him to dare say that Kerry was using this UBL tape for political purposes. She kept saying "Fair Game" to Mehlmen in regards to Kerry going after Bush with the fact that he did not capture or kill UBL.
A total disgrace.

"sabato's "analysis" has been so skewed to kerry for the last
month. he has no credibility with me."

I agree.

Sabato is dead wrong. So... they didn't need Bush to incite their hatred planning 9/11. It wouldn't have mattered who was president. They would have attacked anyway. I'm just afraid something else is going on.

Meanwhile, Kerry surrogates are trying to spin this as an "Osama did this intentionally to make you hate Kerry & support Bush, so he REALLY wants you to vote for Bush, not Kerry, so you should vote for Kerry to spite him" while desperately trying to appear not to be that obvious.

If this were gymnastics, they'd all get '10s' for contortions. Quite entertaining, really....

Larry Sabato doesn't know what he's talking about. He said Bush will be the only Pres to come back from being behind to win. Bush has never been behind.

He calls OBL tape one of the "series of small miracles" that will help Bush get reelected.

What a jackass.

Yes. BOR is a fool. He doesn't think Bin Laden would knowingly help Bush. Really? Now Bin Laden is an expert on American political campaigns? Maybe, Bill, Bin Laden is just stupid when it comes to our culture. What BOR is too dumb to understand is that Bin Laden knows very little about us, and only does things for his own interests. BOR has a lot of arrogance thinking a guy from Long Island knows everything about terrorism, Islam, military operations, etc, etc. In other words, he's just a pompous windbag who thinks he knows it all.

Generally speaking, from the POV of analysts, Sabato is correct. A Bush victory means we stay the course in fighting the War on Terror. OBL is quoted as saying recruitments to Islam went UP UP UP after Sept. 11. And from the look of things in Iraq, they were still recruiting jihadis to fight us evil infidels.

With Kerry in power we go back to the UN circus and the jihadis are unimportant again. They feel important when the world is focused on killing them.

Sabato has been widely quoted for years, and he's no genius. I guess once you establish yourself as an expert, nobody ever questions the fact that you're wrong after the fact, which he usually seems to be.

Actually the real reason Osama want Bush reelected is he just refurnished the cave and really doesn't want to have to move all of his stuff to Iraq if Kerry wins.

Its really a win for Osama bin Laden either way. If Kerry wins then Al Queda will claim another victory like Spain. If Bush wins then he can say that that was actually the intended effect of his tape. Either way bin Laden will claim victory. Whatever, we will keep killing them in any case.
