Time out, Nanette. Someone is filing a protest.

No, pardons, aren't Red Diaper Doper Babies "Fellow Travellers"?

Do you have any examples of "fellow travellers?" I guess by definition they were "under the radar" at the time. If that is so, how do we know know that they were? My feeling about this person is that he was, but I really don't have any facts, just intuition, and that really isn't good enough.

NO!

The term "RED DIAPER BABY" refers to the children of CARD CARRYING stinking COMMIES! Horowtiz's parents WERE card carrying stinking Commies and he was raised as a Commie! So was EVERY leader of the Hippy/Yippie/SDS leadership, with a few exceptions, like Tom Hayden.

As much as I like here poetry and doggerel,Dorothy Parker was a damned FELLOW TRAVELER.

Words and terns have specific definitions, you can't just jumble them together.

Nope, they were NOT "under the radar" all that much;though some were.

Albert Gore Senior was a fellow traveler and paid off by Armand Hammer, with KGB funds.

I can name you a lot of fellow travelers.Maybe one has to be of a certain age to really know/understand this stuff.*sigh*

You want a book/movie list?

I don't want a list as much as I would like confirmation of what constitutes a "fellow traveller." This person that I speak of was president of a college from about 1960 to about 1980 and I believe he was a fellow traveller, but I just don't know for sure. That's why I'd like other's opinions on what makes one a "fellow traveller."

Did he support what Krushev said and did openly? Did he tout Communism as a wonderful philosophy? Did he think that the Viet Cong were the glorious vanguard of what the West nations should follow. Were Mao Tse Tung and Che and Ho people he respected, admired, and talked up? Was he crazy about Fidel?

You have to give me specifics.

My first personal computer was a VIC 20.
It had 4,096 bytes of memory, a cassette recorder a 300 baud modem.
I had over three thousand bucks invested in it.
It was the precursor of the Commodore 64.

It was the late seventies.
I believe the first personal computer was an altair.
It came as a kit and the only way to put data into it was by front panel switches like the early mini computers.
One option was a 20 ma loop for a teletype.
This was from the mid to late 60s.
Both the vic and commadore had an output to use your tv as a monitor.

I was working as a CAD Drafter a bit of time ago. We had a mainframe system that used a Digital PDP-1170. There were 8 workstations [that did not even have individual microprocessors -- everything ran off the mainframe]. It had two large disk packs for storage and a reel-to-reel Kennedy tape drive for backups.

The workstations had storage tubes instead of raster screens, so you had to hit 'refresh' for objects to show having been moved, copied or deleted. The CPU's memory capacity was 512K -- less than half the capacity of a floppy [that's for 8 workstations, mind you]. If more than two people did a 'refresh' at the same time, it would crash the system. It took 20 minutes to reboot.

The PDP 1170 was the best and fastest mini computer in its day but not quite a main frame. I think the DEC PDP 8 was one of the first mini computers and very popular and inexpensive in its day.

The first hard drive was a drum with about 3.5 megabytes.
Not the earliest tape drive but the first big step in digital recording was the 9 track 800 BPI NRZI.
The first digital system I worked on was a hybred of electron tubes for the analog part and flat pack RTL for
The digital part. The system used a 1 inch tape drive 312 bytes per inch 21 tracks. It was the pinch poller type and
If a problem occurred the drive would stretch and sometimes break the tape. At this low tape density you could read the tape using magnisee.

Thanks very much for that link. It really clears up some of my questions. I think it's very interesting that the "intellectuals" who thought they were merely fighting fascism were in reality espousing communism, but they, in spite of being "intellectual," were unable to connect the dots to see that they were being used to further another form of totalitarianism.

I've never understood why "intellectuals" (I use the term loosely to describe people associated with higher education) think that capitalism is so evil. Capitalism is truly the only real economic system that allows everyone to have an equal opportunity. The only thing holding one back is lack of ambition. I guess some people would rather be lazy and blame others. (And now we're back to the attitude of the democrats.) I guess what I'm saying is I don't understand how people who think they're so smart can be so stupid. I would like to cut the "intellectuals" some slack, but I can't, because they have corrupted several generations of students. The college experience is supposed to be about learning how to think and reason, but all it is now is a giant indoctrination session, albeit more sophisticated than public school.

"I don't understand how people who think they're so smart can be so stupid..."

PRIDE.

The Bible is, in our day, held in low regard but it is the profound truth. Lucifer fell because of pride. Whenever I see these intellectuals; Jesus Seminar, Historical Criticism, ACLU, professors, academics, leftest commentators etc..., they all have one burning fire inside them: pride.

God to Satan after the fall: "I will cause a fire to come out from the midst of thee and consume thee"

Paul in Romans "thinking themeselves wise they became fools"

Pride is like the boiling frog analogy. When a person becomes so smart they don't need to hear the insight of God, or even other people, their minds become numb and they refuse to see or hear anything that goes against their pride. It is amazing to see the foolishness of people so gifted and the perversion and corruption of those gifts -- one can truly say blessed are the meek, blessed are the poor in spirit, blessed are those who thirst after righteousness for theirs is the Kingdom of God.
