Posted on 07/27/2004 12:44:07 PM PDT by Jack Savage
A candidate for state office in the great state of Washington appears headed for defeat even before the first absentee ballots are mailed in. (This is my first post on FreeRepublic, by the way, so bear with me if I make a few errors.)
David Blomstrom is a candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction who issued a press release calling for the "legal or quasi-legal" execution of President George W. Bush. It was discussed in this thread http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1168765/posts
Apparently, his actions were legal, as his sites are still online. But the website may outlive Blomstrom. Check his campaign website, at http://www.edrevolt.org/:
"EMERGENCY: My name won't appear on the ballot unless I raise $1,017 for my filing fee and deliver it to Olympia by July 30! Please give me an opportunity to inject some fire into an otherwise hopeless campaign by making a contribution and urging your friends to chip in. See my Support page for more details."
Can you believe that? This nutjob lives in liberal Seattle, and he can't even find any support there! If he hasn't raised $1,000 by now, he certainly isn't going to do it in the next three days.
How hard can it be to raise a lousy $1,000? If you could find just 100 liberals who cared enough to donate $10 each, you'd have it made. There's just one problem: LIBERALS DON'T CARE.
The significance of this extends far beyond this particular candidate. No matter how twisted his ideas, no matter how disgusting his lack of patriotism, you have to admit this guy has guts. He has also obviously put a lot of work into his cause. Check out all his websites. You could spend days reading his material! This man could be a serious threat if his fellow liberals supported him.
But they don't. In fact, liberals are ignoring him, preferring to throw millions of dollars at corrupt candidates who offer nothing but rhetoric. I read somewhere on one of his sites that Blomstrom was banned from Democratic Underground!
I saw a post promoting Blomstrom on Democratic Underground's Washington State forum at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=184 but it has been removed. They're eating their own!
Therefore, I nominate David Blomstrom as the Ralph Nader of Washington State. He won't divert any votes, because his name won't even be on the ballot, but he can be likened to the proverbial canary in a coal mine. Blomstrom's courage (or recklessness) stands in stark contrast to liberal voters who prefer gazillionaires like John Kerry to grassroots activists.
I also think we should thank Democratic Underground for censoring David Blomstrom. If we say PLEASE, we could probably get Democratic Underground to endorse George W. Bush.
Oops, I forgot - most ilberals aren't going to vote anyway so why bother? :)
Since there are articles posted all the time I suppose the urging is as ignored as the no personal insults one.
I don't know about that but there was nothing wrong in posting this article.
The mods apparently disagreed.
Take it up with JR.
If the guy was sneaking in after having been banned that is one thing but outside of that there was nothing wrong with the post. Mods ban what they please for obscure reasons all the time but I don't really care.
Just a thought.
No, I don't think so. I do not like the tendency here to jump all over newbies no matter what they say. One of the biggest complaints I hear here about DU is its refusal to allow any dissident opinions to be posted. That is becoming the norm here too.
I am against political correctness even if it is from the Right and fear none of these posters opinions or comments.
And I still see nothing in this post that should set off alarm bells. One would think we are afraid of these opinions.
That being said I have nothing to say about those running the site and if someone has been banned and tries to sneak back in that is different than having a contrary opinion.
BTW I miss some of the old nutcases who have been banned even though I almost always disagreed with them.
I understand. This one raised mild alarms only because some of us have spent a great deal of time with trolls lately and there are subtleties in his phrasing that were ringing familiar bells. I don't know for sure, not being a mod, but I suspect we've seen him recently as someone else.
This one was actually pretty mild. I've seen a couple threads that took no prisoners.
Personally I like a good barroom, no holds barred brawl.
What's a troll?
**You're a troll? Sure fooled us! Good job!**
Ya know, I tried to be nice, but the troll just wouldnt let it be... I wasnt the first to smell the Zot, I thought it with the original post, but I wasnt gonna say anything.
I just commented on the overuse of the DU words....
and I get attacked.... call me a troll...
hehehehe.. didnt mean to get you into a scrap there :)
Generally speaking - a new poster (or one who has been banned and returned) who, on his/her first day here, posts a new thread, often with the sole purpose of disrupting the forum
It's considered good practice to:
1) lurk a while [to get the feel for generally accepted forum practices],
2) reply in a reasonable manner to existing threads [to establish a 'track record' as a responsible poster]. and finally
3) if you really want to, start a new thread but only in the proper category.
We have a great many lurkers here, probably(?) mostly responders, and not that many people who initiate threads.
ConfusedModerate aka Scharfmesser zotted again.
look at post #61...
another ZOT on this thread :)
I really tried to be nice...
My troll-detector must be out of whack. I shoulda known. :=)
Yep. And we got people who have been here all of 6 weeks making the troll call. Something isn't right.
Is the convention that boring? We got a nice rest while they were glued to C-Span drinking their democrat kool-aid, but now they're back.
Read on... the troll call was accurate. We can smell them!
That's okay, I was having a boring afternoon anyway.
sorry... just got a real sensitive nose.. can smell the ozone :)
since I pegged this troll so well...
I wonder if I would qualify for the RKBA??
maybe you could sponser me :)
They humiliate themselves. Almost all of us here simply ignore them. They are meaningless. We just don't care.
Its an election year. There are so many other ways to occupy your time than to waste a single thought on DU. Why bother?
Was it? Sure he got banned, but was it because he really was a troll or because a bunch of "busy bodies" (as justshutupandtakeit called them) hit abuse enough times the mods got tired of it and got rid of him. I notice in the other banning on this thread J.R. himself came in and explained why. I didn't see that for Jack Savage.
Dammit! The s.o.b. went and got himself banned before I could tear him three or four more. Nobody effs with the moms!!!
I never thought my tagline would be appropriate. Great. Now I have to think up a new one.
Paging King Prout... we have a warrior proven on the battlefield here.
I'm certain the mods don't ban people just because somebody hits abuse. As far as I know only one person did that on this thread, but it wouldn't matter if 20 people did.
If he was banned or suspended, there was a reason. Maybe he was a troll, maybe he broke posting rules, I don't know. I only know he ain't here anymore. The mods don't always announce why they zot somebody, but since they retitled the thread as a ZOT! chances are pretty good it was somebody who was not quite what he/she portrayed.
"He's dead, Jim!"
He was a returning troll and was banned by Jim.
That is something I hadn't thought of so I'll just siddown and shaddup now.
Anchors Aweigh, Chief.
**Was it? Sure he got banned, but was it because he really was a troll or because a bunch of "busy bodies" (as justshutupandtakeit called them) hit abuse enough times the mods got tired of it and got rid of him**
Just for the record, I have never used the abuse tag... I deal with them with posts, or I just go away
as I just posted, I have never hit the abuse button...
(tell you the truth.. I never noticed it hehehehe:)
**Nobody effs with the moms!!!**
one of my favorite movie lines from Mommie Dearest..
DONT F**K WITH ME FELLAS
Had to come back over here, I was on the convention live thread and couldn't stand it.
Guy posts an interesting article and gets a buncha crap from busybodies about it.
Perhaps you missed the repeated requests by Jim Rob (the owner of this site) and the Moderators to adhere to the posting guidelines.
It is a good thread with lots of helpful hints and some good links.
For some insight into Jim's opinion about what should and shouldn't be posted, click on this link: Help & Guidelines, including posting rules
Jack Savage either didn't read the guidelines or he chose to ignore them. The "busybodies" were right this time.
I see no guidelines that he ignored unless it is the one prohibiting one from using different names.
