I watched the first part of LKL Alive? and got much the same vibe that you did. I thought Ms. Johnny E looked horrible in her duds - no neck. They're both very scary.
Ha! That stare at the wife got to me, too!
Oh no, Mort Kondrake lost his wife today. God bless them both.
I just saw that - that's very sad. Prayers his way.

"I think the most important thing that we should focus on is what we're going to do now and we should look at all these recommendations," Clinton said. Link
Translation: Please don't look at how I swept terrorism under the rug and dedicated our time and energy to bombing the Serbs into oblivion.

Hi All - I am a new Freeper and was wondering what the Guild is all about? Thanks in advance!
OMG, Algore has certainly gained a lot of weight...I shudder to think what Tipper looks like if she has been joining him in his binges...
Last night I inadvertently stuffed top secret documents into my socks. No, wait, I mean I inadvertently surfed my way to A&E and saw a minute or two of that "powerful Washington women" program. There was a scene with the Edwardses on a campaign bus during the primaries, and Elizabeth was babbling incoherently about shoes or something. I didn't know who it was at first, and was quite surprised when I realized it was the brilliant lawyer wife of the beautiful Johnny Edwards. Then, a few minutes later, was a scene where John is getting all pissy because he can't find a particular pair of pants and he's clearly trying not to yell at her (mindful of the documentary cameras, I suspect). Very strange.
In other news:
THE brain trust of the Democratic Party considered holding a nationwide free screening of "Fahrenheit 9/11" during next month's Republican convention to steal the GOP's thunder "but cooler heads prevailed," said a source. "It sounds like a pretty cool idea," said the movie's rep, Ken Sunshine, who was unaware of the aborted plan. George Bush-bashing director Michael Moore "has nothing to do with the Democratic Party," Sunshine said. ....
And this, also from Page Six:
THE New Yorker is clearly for John Kerry. Senior editor Hendrik Hertzberg, who frequently bashes President Bush for the magazine, gave $900 to Kerry's campaign. The magazine prohibits political reporters from contributing to campaigns they cover. But it's not a conflict of interest, a New Yorker rep insists, because Hertzberg is "an opinion writer," not a reporter. "Rick ran it by [editor] David [Remnick] and he was fine with it."
No doubt. Meanwhile, Liz Smith's partisan bleatings become even more pathetic:
Would it be possible to can all the obvious speculation that Meryl Streep based her senator-villain in the remake of "The Manchurian Candidate" on New York's real-life Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton? The 13-time Oscar nominee has more imagination than that. Take it from me, the two people Meryl studied were Karen Hughes, the former and still-sometimes adviser to President George W. Bush, and Reagan speechwriter and conservative thinker Peggy Noonan.
Peggy Noonan? You've got to be kidding. All I know is that I saw the original "Manchurian Candidate," the one where the mind-control was accomplished by the Communists, not evil corporations, and Angela Lansbury couldn't have been more Hillarylike - long before Hillary even was a blip on the radar.
POLICE ESCORT (HAZEL O'LEARY) FROM PLANE
Nine days after being named president of Fisk University, Hazel O'Leary found herself being questioned by the FBI last night after being escorted off a commercial airplane.O'Leary wanted to get off the plane as it waited on the tarmac for more than an hour after being diverted to Richmond, Va...
The crew of the Nashville-to-Washington flight told airport police that O'Leary, 67, was ''getting loud and abusive'' and had to be physically restrained at one point, Donkle said.
What really makes me shudder is to think how tempted Al & Tipper will be to re-enact their highest rated stunt...THE KISS!
Regarding Berger's making phone calls from the secure room without monitors present:
Consider that he may have been using a cell phone capable of sending digital photos.
Very foolish if archives staff allowed him to do this.
