Personally, I've been told I look ravishing in tin-foil. ~/;o)

I get what you're saying, and I say, don't feel bad for thinking out of the box. Maybe THIS issue is a false alarm, but maybe someday you'll spot something real. Cheers!

Deep breaths, dear. Even if the original poster didn't take anyone seriously, various FReepers learned something about different places around the country that they might like.

It's all public information, anyway. You can get a quick overview from people here, but for details, anybody would have to contact local transportation authorities for schedules, routes, etc.

"But if I were thinking of relocating, the last thing I would do is become a member of a forum just to ask strangers for advice."

Especially a political forum. I sympathize as I think about things like that ALL THE TIME now, and I never did before. Oh, except back during some very bad periods of anxiety during my youth, when I used to worry that bombs were place under cars. But, even then I knew that was just crazy thinking, I wasn't ever really thinking there might actually be a bomb there.

But, look at it this way, maybe the person wasn't so new at all, maybe just a lurker who realized there are smart people from all over the country here, who are generous to give help when asked. I'd definately pose any question to the freeper brigade and have no doubt I'd get many good (and varied!) answers.

But, I think if really the person made NO responses, I'd let the mods know about it. Because after all, we are all fighters in the war on terror now.

I have called the FBI myself since 9/11, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I live in Hudson county, NJ and if that newbie is a terrorist I'd tell him to move here, cause he'd feel right at home. And our gov't is working to improve mass transit all the time.

"What bothers me the most is the way its sticking to me."

That's why I called the FBI on the arab hot dog vendor who had the "dead eyes". It was just a nothing thing, the guy could have just been having a really bad day, I have days like that and I can't hide my emotions at all. If he wasn't an arab I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

Now, was that racial profiling? Yes, but I'll say this, the FBI guy didn't blow me off at all. I figured the guy for an Arab because he had an Arabic newspaper on his little truck. So, in fact, he might not have been a Muslim. But who knows what little thing may lead to a big thing?

After I heard they busted the cook from the diner where my kid's first communion luncheon was right after 9/11, I said, sorry, all bets are off with you folks now.

There's worse things than tin-foil.

If you can think it, someone could try it.

Truer words were never spoken... and that sends a chill down my spine, it does.

Then again, watching 9/11 unfold on my television screen half a world away, my first thought was "Oh NO, all those people..." and then, "How could someone use something so beautiful (Boeing jetliners) to attack something so beautiful? (The WTC). My heart broke irrevocably on that day, and I know with my own eyes that any type of evil is not only possible, but that we live in a world where it happens.

Oh my Gosh!

Exploding Jihadist golf carts in Peachtree City!

Oh the humanity!!!!

Had I given him the successful results of the Seal Team exercise to penetrate the nuclear sub sea-base in Groton, CN I'd be concerned.....

Telling the newbie that Peachtree City Georgia is a golf cart community would hardly qualify for National Security Interest.

Hmmmmmmmm.....But now I'm starting to wonder about you....
Why are you so curious? Who are you really? Is your left foot bigger than you right foot? Hmmmmmmm....

Tinfoil hat firmly in place, Sir!

It does seem strange the instant familiarity some newbies presume to... I wouldn't have been much help, though. Mass Transit in Tijeras is any '73 Ford F-150 with more than two people in the bed.

I don't know...tinfoil really clashes with my skin tone!

I'm going to be more careful about posting personal information on the forum in the future, that's for sure.

I'm sorry. Wouldn't want you to become addicted. The bill is doubled. I prescribe a touch of sobriety, and more cowbell.

I think you missed my point a bit. I do not actually believe that the newbie is a terrorist looking for information. I am bothered by the way my thinking has changed since 9/11. Apart from the heartbreak and rage which followed the attacks, I have considered myself more or less unscathed since it happened. Now I see that its affected me more than I realized.

Ma'am, btw, not sir. I get that all the time. Its the short hair, I think.

Sorry...Ma'am.....

Stay security minded but not to the level of paranoia....

Al-queda will strike again but the odds of it affecting you approach those of being struck by lightning. Also the odds of you observing them prior to a strike are slim.

That said, you should always be security aware just walking to your car at the local mall....

Maybe he has a bomb but no car to put it in and does not want to be conspicuous.
