The House That Ruth Built - during the ORIGINAL Yankee dynasty, what was the crowd like?

In 1964, the Yanks won their 29th pennant in 44 seasons.

I've often read that back then, the Yankee Stadium crowd was more laid back than Giants, Dodgers or Mets audiences, rather DIGNIFIED if I can believe that.

If you were 21 years old in '64 (I was only 3), you're 60 now. Maybe some FReepers can give some recollections of NYC baseball atmosphere in the old days? Inquiring coFReepers might want to know.

I recall watching Ralph Kiner play for Pittsburg in the fifties, but I don't remember the Mets, and the Dodgers played in NYC then. Hotdogs, beer for my dad and uncles, boistrous fans and the eagerly awaited seventh inning stretch come to mind.
