#1, you don't need wings to fly.
#2, The object DID NOT "zip past," THE JET OVERTOOK IT. For all we know it was a balloon standing still.
#3, If that plane is below 10,000 feet, the speed limit is 250 knots, 422 feet/second. If it's higher than that it'll be going faster still. So figure the "relative motion" on an object being overtaken at that velocity.
#4, If the narrator isn't a moron, he certainly does a swell imitation of one.
