“16% of truckers are independent, doesn’t sound like enough. Some will be too worried about money to get involved. I don’t know how well indy truckers are doing these days.”
About 50% are owner operators (indie). Some of those are contracted to companies and have little say on their loads and destination. But I think the indie number is higher than 16%. They have plenty of loads choices so staying out of NYC will not hurt the pocketbook.
“I think this is overblown but maybe some truckers can comment. I would be happy if I’m wrong.”
You’re wrong. Remember the NFL? That’s gone now. Same with Bud Lite and Keurig coffee machines. All gone.
NYC has awakened the Krakken. The place will be a ghost town by the end of the month.
On second thought, You’re probably not wrong.
Will Biden or Hochul “debank” them like Trudeau did to the Canadian truckers?
Folks, don’t steal the food off the loading dock. It will on the selling floor shortly and you can buy it with your EBT card or that of your lady friend. Don’t force us to end deliveries or to have you arrested.
“ There needs to be a compensation fund for lost loads.” I agree! Another idea would be to start a go fund me campaign to help businesses move off of New York! Maybe you do both. Pay truckers to not deliver and assist companies to relocate.
When it’s all said and done, the only ones that should be left in NYC will be the gangbangers, the illegal aliens, the homeless and the moronic black RATs that try to rule over em all.
Anyone with a modicum of intelligence and common sense, will be long gone.
In fact, make that every single rat run city.
Every city in America is 5 days from Anarchy when the supermarkets are empty. On Day 3 is when the party really gets rocking. Let us all hope and pray they holdout for over a month and millions RIOT in the streets for a spare apple.
they may get a bunch of OOs to participate, but company drivers are another story. you may get some companies to participate but not many. and employee drivers dont have any choice in not making deliveries... not much will come of this.
About 45 months ago my local Aldi put limits on food (2 cans of something) and on paper products (one package[if available]).
Using TikTok.
Saying MFer.
Even at 16%, many independents avoid NYC anyway. The boycott of the independents will have their contracts moved over to company trucking, so it won’t matter.
The author doesn’t understand the industry has substantially changed in the past 40 years.
“Better yet, just LEAVE NYC...”
Better, better yet..stay there and starve! NY is 85% rat.
Interesting. My nearest Aldi limits a couple of bread products to 2. I assume just a loss leader as has been done for decades, at least.
Trucks might have to be licensed by state.
Truck mileage I think has to be apportioned by state for road tax purposes.
“But they are walking away from money if they do this. There needs to be a compensation fund for lost loads.”
There are plenty of other loads out there. The load to trucker capacity is not 1:1.
I suspect big trucking companies are generally run by Trump supporters who would not like to have a truck hijacked.
I believe the majority of truckers are not independent, and I don't expect the trucking companies will go along.
I think a Trucker”s boycott of N.Y.C. would, to say the least, spark some interesting developments!
