“think Putin was well-prepared for this interview. And, contrary to the propaganda that we’ve been fed about him, he was intelligent and engaged, which (generally speaking) has been President Trump’s assessment of him. Tucker was in Putin’s court, so needless to say there weren’t gonna be any “gotcha” questions asked or answered. I got “some” sense of who Putin was (pragmatic, no nonsense, focused). He wasn’t your average two-bit whore of a dictator like Zelensky. But he is a dictator, who President Trump will have to reckon with.”

Excellent assessment. Intellectually a worthy adversary for Trump

Putin's response was to imply that Zelensky is a Nazi and that Nazism still needs to be stamped out. At this point, Putin sounded more like an Antifa member in Portland than a president.

President Putin sounded like a leader that wanted evil Neo-Nazis in the Ukraine caged and neutered, never to murder, maim, or persecute again.   Your NeoCon warmongering makes you seem like you're sympathetic.

That’s the way Russians seem to be. Try reading War and Peace. It’s long winded but exhaustive.

Both of them did well in the interview. It was not what I expected. Certainly few of our “leaders” could do a 2-hour interview. Maybe Rand Paul could. Certainly Joe Biden could not.

Both were thoughtful, but not a whole lot of new information for anyone except the idiots out there.

Putin’s still a KGB guy. He wants to bring back the glory of the Soviet Union but in the form of Imperial Russia.

I think you're daft.

Wait, I thought the media said that Putin was dying of cancer, or possibly already dead; yet he seems healthy and articulate.
What's going on here?!?

I know the Cyrillic words for I don't know and I don't understand and when President Putin said those phrases the translator was exactly on it.

I also caught his *I don't know* because my Ukrainian grandmother lived with us for a while and I picked up just a smattering of Ukrainian. I certainly heard that phrase a few times.

I don't doubt the questions were pre-arranged. I would have expected that.

LOL!

After Sean’s endless blathering, Putin would have killed Sean in about 3 minutes with his own two hands.

https://www.france24.com/en/europe/20240209-putin-says-russian-defeat-in-ukraine-impossible-in-rare-us-interview

In a two-hour interview with the former Fox News host – coming just ahead of the two-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – Putin also said a deal “can be reached” on imprisoned Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich.

“Certain terms being discussed via special services channels,” he said, while insisting that the reporter is a spy – something the Journal and US government vehemently deny.

It was the first one-on-one interview of Putin by someone from the Western media since 2019.

However Carlson, who is close to White House candidate and former president Donald Trump, asked few tough questions and largely listened while the Kremlin leader lectured him on his views of Russian history, portraying the country as a victim of Western betrayals.

Putin defended his decision to invade Ukraine in February 2022. And he said the West now realises that Russia will not be defeated, despite US, European and NATO help to Ukraine.

“Up until now, there has been the uproar and screaming about inflicting a strategic defeat to Russia on the battlefield. But now they are apparently coming to realise that it is difficult to achieve, if possible, at all. In my opinion, it is impossible by definition,” he said.

He also aimed a message at the US Congress, where Trump-dominated Republicans are increasingly reluctant to keep backing Ukraine with weapons and other military aid.

“I will tell you what we are saying on this matter and what we are conveying to the US leadership. If you really want to stop fighting, you need to stop supplying weapons,” he said.

When asked if Moscow would consider invading other countries in the region – NATO members Poland and Latvia – or generally across the European continent, Putin said that was “out of the question.”

“We have no interest in Poland, Latvia or anywhere else. Why would we do that? We simply don’t have any interest. It’s just threat mongering,” Putin said.

A war with Poland, he said, would happen “only in one case: if Poland attacks Russia.”

Would have been good, but we now learned from the last year’s declassified documents that the Chileans did it themselves. Nixon was surprised to find out that Pinochet has taken power.

Exactly the same impression I had.

Fascinating insight into the mindset and uniquely Russian worldview of an unapologetic adversary.

His discussion about his impression of George W Bush and Donald Trump as serious, capable, hard core and pragmatic adversaries who he could do business with was very instructional.

Putin has risen to the top of the Russian Oligarch class which says a lot in and of itself.

He is very smart, very capable, very cunning and utterly ruthless. He lives in very dangerous world dominated by institutional corruption. It comes with the job.

What separates Putin from the rest of the Oligarchs, is that he is a true Russian nationalist and patriot who see past his own narrow personal interests and ambitions to focus primarily on Russia's long term national interests. If you understand that about Putin, everything else falls into place. The guy has fought a lot of proxy and shadow wars in his career and he is still around.

He is not a guy I would want to underestimate.

In all seriousness I would estimate Putins working IQ as double Biden’s.

Putin gave a 30 min recount of Russian history with dates. Biden literally can’t remember who is dead and live.

What a SNAFU we are in.

Yes Biden is senile and wholly owned by deep state/CIA. That might be the REAL reason the elite left hate Trump so much, he may not kowtow…as much…to the CIA.

It’s obviously as I’ve been saying all along. The situation is not as simple as the ignorant and Zeepers here think:

“Putin is another Hitler and wants to conquer the world.”

I’m also exactly 1/2 through.

Tucker Carlson interviewing Putin is probably one of the most important interviews by a journalist in more than a century .

All you can do is bitch about it, rather than try to understand it.

You’re not supposed to give the other side a voice nor see the other perspectives.

You’re supposed to grunt, talk about what the Kardashians wore at the Oscars, and do as you’re told.

If you start showing there are two sides to the story, it’s just propaganda.

But yes, TC did a good job and everyone knows this is “Putin’s perspective,” which has its own omissions, sugar coating, etc. But they/Russia (((do))) have an argument which basically revolve around: Minsk violation, NATO East expansion, our withdraw from the ballistic missile treaty.

To claim none of the Russian arguments have any merit, is not even remotely honest. We (((ARE))) largely to blame for this war in Ukraine.

Specifically this administration is at fault for this mess, and it is perplexing that the Republicans and political right don’t tear Biden apart over it. But then you need to realize that the political right has a strong anti-russian bias. Some of those knuckle draggers in the bureaucracy and politics still live in a Cold War, and sadly they are to blame for what has become a self fulfilling prophecy.
