This guy has obviously never worked in a big box store. The biggest problem is they treat GOOD workers like crap. My wife went to work at Wal-Mart after i retired. Hard and conscientious worker.
They abused her big time. No raises. No time to do your actual job. Always having to do the slackers work. Constant schedule changing. Verbal abuse etc. She was there 5 years and they were hiring new people for more pay than her. They CUT her pay when she wouldn’t put up with abuse.
It was a mismanaged store, so maybe others are better. But I doubt it.
Don’t treat good workers like crap. It might work.

The blue states provide enough benefits without working that young people "prefer" not to work.

It used to be mostly kids working at fast food restaurants and grocery stores. What happened to them? I think they're too young to qualify for generous benefits.

I understand the motive but I will still refuse their (only at Walmart) illegal detainment/search. Of course, anyone can voluntarily submit to a search.

That is a huge problem people (like HRC) claiming they do not recall.

I doubt it - the searches will go on long after the self-checkout is gone.

They ask me as I walk toward the exit, “Sir, do you have a receipt?” I smile and say, “Yes, I sure do,” and keep walking. ;-)

My wife will just keep walking and wave the receipt. I just ignore them.

A long time ago the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals (applies to where we live) ruled only membership-style stores may check receipts and goods at the door because of the membership rules. Standard stores are not allowed to do so but Wally World seems to try to flaunt the ruling.

self check not going anywhere Next up scan the item in your phone or on the store hand held as you put it in the basket and skip the check out all together.

Bag the items - no "search". Pretty simple.

The trash problem is because of the moronic policies of charging people to dispose of stuff like tires.

I understand the need to pay for the DPW with either taxes or fees for trash, but charging for things like the tires will just result in people dumping them along roadsides, like I see happening.

I gave a kid the change for my food at the grocery store yesterday and it was something and 42¢. I gave him four dimes and two pennies and he just stared at it about one whole minute. Then he moved them around to try to count them then just put it in the register.

Staggering……

I’ve had experience, at Wal Mart, with the very same thing. I was a white, I left woman and the verbal abuse was terrible and I was talked to much better than most employees. After one year, I couldn’t take it anymore.

If I were in charge of security:

Identify the items most likely stolen.

Where were they stolen/ front door or back door?

Added security and hefty bonuses for results.
