My uncle owned horses and was a rodeo cowboy who wore the longer pointed-toed boots. When he moved to Florida from Arizona with his cowboy attire, cowboy hat and handlebar moustache, I thought his boots were peculiar, but apparently they’re typical for roping and riding competitions. His boots also bent where the narrowing part was too small for the span of his toes/ball of his foot. He wore them everywhere, even when lugging shingles up ladders for his roofing business.

Wow....that is incredible that your dear Uncle could wear rodeo cowboy boots up and down a ladder, lugging roofing materials.
God bless him!
My hubby competed in many a roping event. He NEVER wore (rodeo clown looking, like Rob's) boots in ANY competition.
In fact, EVERY one of the competitors wore boots called ... believe it or not ... roper (style western) boots.
Like these gentlemen/ropers are wearing ... a shorter, more rounded toe ... than dress/riding boots ...
Pointy boots are typically reserved for riding, and, sometimes, for dressier events....but, again, they are well fitting boots, with no toes pointing upward, like Rob's.
Maybe they do things, differently, with western event wear, in AZ and FL 🤷♀️

a persons vanity about their personal appearance is off-limits to any reasonable person. For example, how would you feel about it if someone attacked your hero, saying he dyes his hair orange? Or wears a corset to make his gut less obvious?
Any fair minded person would refrain from this area altogether. And it says something very clear about the people who don’t so refrain.
