I have lifts in one of my pairs of boots because otherwise my outer-ankles are rubbed to oblivion. There are reasons to use them other than a desire for more height.

I had PLENTY of pairs of pointy toe Lucchese, Tony Lama, and, custom made boots...in the 80s, 90s.

When one is wearing properly fit boots, the foot slips into the footbed, like a glove, and, the toes fill and flatten the toe box. No ‘points up’ on the toes, when well fit.

Rob’s boots - maybe he purchased some vintage Dan Post boots, at the Goodwill - are ill fitting and slap and clap when he walks. NOT what good fitting western boots would do.
