Pacing will always be an issue, and the easy way to fix it is to stratify class cohorts by IQ. When I was in public school the pace was so slow that I was bored to death.
Tests cause students to review material in a way that they can digest and remember, analyze questions, organize their thoughts, write coherent paragraphs and short essays quickly, etc.
Homework assignments can serve useful purposes and greatly extend what students are exposed to — especially with highly relevant internet based lessons and projects available. Should never be simple-minded busywork.
“Teacher” is correct that public school wastes a lot of time on garbage (I’d guess 50%+). But teachers at home and in schools can make the situation work, at least a lot better.
Tom the Son is something else. He lived with us for a year after he graduated from college, because his landlord sold the rental house, but he’s gone again except for his weekend stops to do the wash and play Magic: The Gathering with his younger brothers.
I agree with GED but lower the age to about 10. My homeschoolers were in college at the ages of 13, 12, and 13.
1) All government teachers should be required to take and pass the GED every 5 years. My bet is most would fail.
2) All government teachers should be required to take and pass the full series of college calculus classes. Do most teachers need it? No....But...I would mean that they actually smart enough to teach in a classroom.
The text is quite contrary to the article title.

No, its indoctrination. How many Demoncrats have stated that kis belong to the state or it takes a village?
