Let’s get this straight. The USD is NOT the world’s reserve currency. It IS the most widely used reserve currency. There are eight major reserve currencies: the Australian dollar, the British pound sterling, the Canadian dollar, the Chinese renminbi, the euro, the Japanese yen, the Swiss franc, and the U.S. dollar. The dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency ended when Nixon reneged on the dollar’s gold convertibility.
