So, once again, the beliefs of the Native Americans is an evil thing.
And, once again, it seems, that the “messianic jew aka christian” is caterwauling about THEIR ‘first amendment rights’, while in the same breath, pooping on the beliefs of other Americans, without a second thought!
‘m a halfbreed Mojave, so I really don’t care who’s doing the pooping, so any and all parties denegrating other American’s religious beliefs are wrong.
(FWIW, theocracies are not ‘religions’ but political entities.)

So it turns out that religion is not banned from schools after all, just the worship of the God of the Bible..
Some Christians forbid the ceremonies but others see it as merely a remembrance of one's history.
Similar controversies occur in Asian ceremonies to commemorate ancestors, called ancestor worship by some and forbidden,but given a Christian interpretation and allowed by other Christian leaders.
However, it seems like the teacher was pushing the new age interpretation rather than explaining Pueblo culture to the kids.

You’re right they’re not idols and not worshipped, but they sure are 100% religious objects and therefore do not belong in school. Will they be allowed to build statues of Christ and Mary, or put together rosary beads?

Michaelangelo’s David actually is circumcised. He is circumsised in the old (former) way called the little millah in Hebrew, which is appropriate for the time at which David lived. … Back in David’s time there was just a minimal circumcision performed, which can often be misintrepreted as non-circumcision.

Most Jews, Christians and Muslims would not think it is appropriate for their children to make or use these objects- the fine distinctions about what is or isn’t an idol have little to do with it. A public school should not make children participate in a religious ceremony (whether it is “idolatry” or not). Teaching about religions and even inviting someone from a tribe to talk about the tribe’s traditions would be fine.
