When have players died or needed to be resuscitated in the field??
I was at the game in 1992 when Dennis Byrd had his career ending injury and was paralyzed for a short time- never remember a situation like last night though
Sadly there will be a lot more deaths of this type in not only the NFL but all sports.
I think the NFL will vacate the Bills Bengals game as if it never was played. Sure the Ravens will be angry because the Ravens will have no shot if winning the AFC North. The Bengals will be angry because they have no shot at being the AFC’s #1 seed. The Bills will be angry because Kansas City next plays Las Vegas Raiders and will likely win that game to earn the #1 seed. All the Bills had to do was win 14 regular season games to win the #1 seed and now they can’t.

I am surprised the Bills flew home too. At least they should have left their equipment there. They could fly the players back today. It is only an hour flight.
Unless they(Roger G) knew he was brain dead and had no chance of recovery.
I think they should continue the game later this week.
Move the Bills/Pats game to next Monday night.
Move the Bengals game to next Monday night.
The least disruption if this game is vacated, is to void the bye week for the #1 seed, which is currently in dispute. One extra team makes the playoffs in the AFC as a wild card to fill the schedule.
I suspect the Bill will concede. If that's possible.
More times than you imagine, as a Gator fan you should remember, that Keyontae Johnson suffered cardiac arrest in the 2020 UF/FSU basketball game, he is alive because of doctors and paramedics at the game, he is now playing at Kansas State and is their best player. The game continued after he was carried away on a stretcher.
In 2001 Drew Bledsoe for the Patriots was hit by a LB from the Jets that burst blood vessels in his heart, he nearly died on the sideline and the game continued.
Here is an article.

Darrell Stingley had his neck snapped by Jack Tatum of the Raiders and nearly died on the field, the game continued.
Chucky Mullins a DB for Ole Miss snapped his neck in a game versus Vanderbilt, he lived another 1.5 years, the game continued.
Ryan Shazier, LB for the Steelers had his neck broken, he has recovered enough to be able to walk, but the game continued.
In 2001 in Preseason Practice, Eraste Autin a freshman at University of Florida died because of heat stroke, the practices continued.
In 2001 FSU Seminole Player Devaughn Darling died in offseason workouts due to complications in his heart. The workouts continued.
In 1993 Reggie Lewis a player for the Boston Celtic died in a workout due to heart complications, the workouts continued.
In 1990 Hank Gathers died during the game for Loyola Marymount, the game continued. Gathers died due to heart complications.
The point being, although rare, these types of things have happened before, multiple times, in no case was the practices or games called off.
Darryl Stingley did not die on the field- he died years later. And if memory serves me that was a pre-season game.
Utley was giving his teammates the thumbs up as he was carted off the field.
As i said- i was at the Byrd game and he was on the field for 20 minutes before they carted him off. Of course they weren’t giving him CPR or resuscitating his heart.
Mahomes for the win.
The NFL played the Sunday after JFK was assassinated, on 9/11 is was more about not being able to secure the games than morning the dead.
Only one of those games did a player have cardiac arrest- and you are incorrect- the Gathers game was postponed: Several minutes after Gathers was taken to the hospital, the WCC commissioner and executive board announced the game had been suspended indefinitely with 13:34 left in the first half. Sunday night’s other semifinal game, between Pepperdine and San Diego, was postponed indefinitely.

You can go the Hades. How would that be fair?
And the NFL took sh!t for years over playing the game after JFK was assassinated. Pete Rozelle said for years and years he wished he had cancelled the weekends games.
4) Bills forfeit the game.
I just read that the League has announced that the game won’t be resumed this week and that week 18 games will be played as scheduled. No decision yet on when this game will be resumed. So your idea of the game being vacated might come to pass.
Cinci was winning 7-3 at the time and had the ball. End it as a Bills forfeit and move on.
I’ve looked over the NFL rulebook. It would appear up to the commissioner to make a decision - either a Bengal victory or a tie (Article 3 or 4 under Emergencies, Unfair Acts) or else resume the game under Article 6, 8, or 9.
I don’t see any provisions for reworking the schedule.
Update: Just heard NFL says:
1. No resumption of Bills-Bengals game
2. Sunday is to go on as scheduled.
