My father had the misfortune to be a 20-year-old sergeant at a place called Corregidor. I often wonder.

Did he ever opine about MacArthur? What about Bataan?

Regards,

American Government practices (largely motivated and executed by intelligence and military institutions) was immoral, amoral, indecent, what have you, and absolutely un-American! Completely contrary to American ethics and character.

Wernher von Braun, the NAZI rocket scientist was (along with others) taken, along with his data, from the European War, and “LIBERATED”. His autobiography, was named, “I AIM AT THE STARS”...bad choice. After half a day everyone added the phrase, “but I always fall short and hit London.”
We also took German Bio and Chemical weapons data.

Same for all the Bio and Chemical weapons data that the Japanese developed with their medical/bio experiments.
They murdered untold numbers of people, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS! and they walked for their co-operation. American Government policy and conduct was shamefully, unspeakably, EVIL!

It remains so...especially now. Consider the DOJ, FBI, J6 Hearings, ad nauseam.

IT AIN’T THE AMERICA I GREW UP IN! IT’S GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY, AND IT’S NOT SUSTAINABLE. IT’S LONG PAST TIME TO MASH RESET!!!

Thanks for remembering/mentioning the brave Chinese soldiers and civilians who aided downed American fliers during WW2. Thousands were killed for that.

Rise and Fall of the Third Reich

Despite its mass, R&F3R is one of those rare audio books I can run for hours and hours without losing interest or getting impatient.

Patton disliked Asians for a reason.
He also pointed out that Russians are West Asian.

My grandfather (never knew him) was born in 1895, went from cav to air. Was a gun sarg in the WWI theater.
Have pictures of him on his horse Babe. Makes me proud.

I have never listened to an audio book before, but after your comments I will give the R&F3R a try. Thank you for the recommendation!

I have an old copy of Shire’s “Rise” on my shelf. Read it numerous times over the years. I will now try the audiobook. Thank you for recommending.

Shire’s “Berlin Diary” is impressive too. He was in country from ‘34 to ‘40. This was his personal diary and it’s remarkable as we get a first-hand perspective at the rise of Hitler through everyday observations. It’s like tagging along with Shire around Berlin. Worth reading.

Say their names out loud.

William Farrow

Dean Edward Hallmark

Harold Spatz

These men died an heroic death in a mission to make it clear to the Japanese people that their island nation was NOT invulnerable, and that retribution soon would be coming for the attack on Pearl Harbor.

According to Curtis LeMay, because of Doolittle raid the Japanese killed 250,000 civilians. His estimate is confirmed by this source

Regards,

My Dad was in the Battle of Manila and later served in MacArthur’s headquarters. It seemed every time he met another Pacific veteran they’d get to ranting about Dugout Doug and what a pompous ass he was.
