He’s right, but it’s foolish to waste time on this. It doesn’t win him any new supporters. I can’t say anything positive about the five of them, but want a president who’s more focused and not engaging in personal vendettas. One of Trump’s strengths was that he could be a conservative, yet also appeal to people who were tired of rhetoric and ideology. Don’t throw that away.
And as usual Trump is correct
you know, if it wasn’t for his war on Republicans, Trump would be OK. He got Dobbs for us; he got the wall partially built; he’d probably get us a new, stronger 2nd Amendment if we pushed for it. One with real protections for open or concealed carry, one that required you to be convicted at trial for something actually harmful or for mental incapacity before losing your gun rights. But this war on Republicans is just wrong. Ideological purity never did anything for the socialists, it never did anything for the BLMers, and it’s not going to help the conservatives.
There is the Independence Party, which is not as conservative.
But mostly what people mean when they use those names is unaffiliated, which is what George Will is.

I am far from an expert, but what I have picked up seems to indicate that neither the Soviet Union before it fell nor the Communist Party of China now could be described (without joking or an attempt to deceive for political reasons) as pure communist regimes.
And the laughter that obvious attempts at ideological purity among the woke and the BLMers cause, here on the right, are I think a good guide to its political value. You think the left isn’t laughing up its sleeve at Trump’s war on the Republican Party? They LOVE it. They know this cannot help us.
