I’m glad that those of you who think it can’t work were not around in 1776.
The support for independent Texas is probably the same for independent Quebec. Unlikely. But if the country collaspes, it could happen. The left is trying to dominate America and they won’t stop until they achieve it.
If nobody has found a way to remove Breadline Joe Biden from power before Nov., Texit will probably pass.
Why?
More specifically, Trump's red tsunami of patriot supporters need to get new, Trump-endorsed state legislatures up to speed with the argument that the very corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification feds regularly steal (imo) state revenues by means of unconstitutional 16th Amendment taxes, taxes that Congress cannot reasonably justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers imo.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]." —United States v. Butler, 1936.
In fact, the congressional record shows that Rep. John Bingham had clarified that the delegates to the Constitutional Convention had left the care of the people to the states, not the federal government.
”Simply this, that the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Constitution, is in the States and not in the federal government [emphases added]. I have sought to effect no change in that respect in the Constitution of the country.” —John Bingham, Congressional. Globe. 1866, page 1292 (see top half of third column)
Also, Justice Louis Brandais had introduced his "laboratories of democracy" metaphor to emphasize the power of the states to serve the people, ultimately depending on the kind of state social spending programs that the legal majority citizen voters of a given state want.
"[...] a single courageous State may, if its citizens choose, serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country." —Justice Louis Brandeis, Laboratories of Democracy.
Once the states eliminate the unconstitutional middleman, the unconstitutionally big federal government, from "helping" the states to manage their revenues, each state will ultimately find a tsunami of new revenues (imo) that the states can use to increase teacher salaries, police and fire department salaries too, also fix infrastructure.
Insights welcome.
TonyM …. Game Set Match
Amazing. I wonder how many of the naysayers are also the type to talk about the cartridge box instead of the ballot box, CornPop better not do this or that or there will be war in the streets, have a Gadsden flag somewhere.
Texas has everything. Food. Fuel. Deep water ports.
I’m betting the only folks that would be against, especially some of the newest arrivals, it live in Austin, DFW, Houston, San Antonio. The folks on the border are seeing and living, firsthand, the destruction of this country.
If the country collapses, you better hunker down and BE! Locked and loaded! This ain’t a movie.
There is also a movement to have California secede, and being a blue state, it would be much easier. The United Nations, the European Union, the League of Arab States, the Organization of African Unity and other international organizations would support California’s bid for independence, and it would probably receive diplomatic recognition from most of the countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. China and maybe even Russia would offer military aid.
“That status begs other questions, such as, if Texas can secede whenever they want to, why didn’t they remain out of the union after the civil war? Theoretically they could have exercised that option then.”
The difference would be that Texas seceded in 1860 as part of the Confederacy-not as the independent Republic that it was when it joined the United States.
Texas still has the right to secede as the Republic of Texas, that it used to be.
This isn’t 1861 either. Know your history.
If Texas waits 30 years to secede it will be 85% Hispanic. Go look at the demographics of 18 and under, especially 10 and under. Just sayin’
Dudess, where is your Texas Ping List?
People argue foolishly back and forth about the legality of succession. It’s a fools errand. Succession will always lead to armed conflict and bloodshed the question is does the movement have enough people willing to go to armed conflict and kill their former countrymen and neighbors who might be loyalists. That’s the only question needed to be answered does the movement have the men, firepower and will to kill enough of the enemy to make them retreat and ask for peace. That’s it everything else is mental masturbation.
I think you mean it raises other questions. Begging questions means to avoid them.
Okay, let’s game this out - seriously.
For TEXIT to work, we’ll need more than just Texas. We’ll need a buffer if you will; something that doesn’t allow them to make The Lone Star their whipping boy.
Better if AR, OK, and LA voted on the same day. That’s a nice block that would get MS and AL interested (Note: You’ll either need to make a deal or go to war directly with MX; DC might even use them as a proxy against you). Next, in order to force DC to fight on multiple fronts, the northwest ‘Meat Cleaver’ makes their move:
MT, ID and WA and OR east of the Cascades (let the I-5 corridor scream all they want. They need the east more than the east needs them). If one were to dream, they should pull in BC and AB from CA to secure energy and mineral resources. This would force AK in by default.
Think this is all crazy? Not if suddenly everyone has ZERO in their portfolios. But I digress...
To keep the peace, I’d give China HI. (yeah, let DC’s woke military spend resources trying to keep it. We’re thinking long-term survival here)
Next: The Heartland block: KS, MO, NB and IA, ND, and SD must decide their own direction, but they’d need a warm water port for trade. So, join the Lone Star group, or make a deal with the Meat Cleaver for a Snake/Frazier river outlets to the sea?
Before you blow this off, take an inventory of the raw materials and natural resources this states/provinces can provide and put on the international trading block. Of course, DC would try to use force to prevent all of this, but as you can see, we’re already spreading them too thin.
Yes, I know CO is in the middle of all this, but Denver is DC’s plan B in case DC gets... you know. So I figure the last battle of the CW2 will be there - winner takes all.
And No, UT - I know you’re just sitting there. You’ll need to make a decision, and sucking on the DC nipple while pretending to be conservative won’t cut it. You’re not Catholics (i.e., The Vatican won’t save you), remember?
Northern CA and NV will have a Humboldt problem as these 2 counties have more in common that anything Sacramento and Carson City can offer. They may join the Meat Cleaver, or perhaps just stay independent. Who knows. Perhaps when CA’s Central Valley (CV) wakes up and decides to secure all the water rights from the Sierras. This may all depend on what the new State of Jefferson (JF) will do. But everyone knows we’ll have to jettison the everything west of I-5 (starving them out - forcing them to move back east would be merciful), but we still need Pacific ports.
Upon all this happening, I assume those bordering on the Great Lakes would secure these resources for themselves, which each respective state capitol realizing what a disadvantage they have by NOT being on the lakes themselves. Yes, I fully believe cities such as Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and points East are on a suicide course, and by the next generation, won’t have people smart enough to use the God-Given resources surrounding them.
This is just a start. Yes, I know I have left out many states, but as I foresee the eventual break up of the several states once the money printer runs out of ink (or the ink is simply too expensive to buy), we’re going to have to start thinking ‘out-of-the-box’ in order to survive. This means NOT depending on DC or the people we send there for the answers. One way or the other, we’re eventually going to be on our own. It’s about time we realized...
... well, see tagline.
my $0.02 (just not worth what it used to be back in the day, but what the heck)
