Yes, the “predictable minority superiority over the whites” IS racist. Extremely so.
That was not a description of my girlfriend, that was a fact. lol. 5’7”, 130, blonde, blue, thin build, huge EE rack. ;). True.
After reading the intro I thought I might like to go see it. I even looked to see where it is playing locally. But after reading the rest of the review, and being turned off by the things quoted above, I think I'll pass.
We’re all obviously more interested in your “hot” girlfriend that the stupid movie because truly “hot” girls - I mean the REAL deal, not phony hot - are so freaking hard to find these days.
We want to know more about what makes your girl “hot” and maybe where she might be located on the “Crazy/Hot Matrix”.
Tons, they referred back to the original quite a bit.
Oh and btw, Jennifer Connoley is my new crush. She'll be yours too.
I saw a few Tweets over the past few days claiming that Maverick was about an old guy getting the young girl and asking why Kelly McGillis was replaced by Jennifer Connelly.
The thing is, Connelly is 51 and Cruise is 59. That's certainly an appropriate age set.
McGillis, OTOH, is a 64-year-old, out-of-shape lesbian.
Sounds like a woke movie to me.
...and a reflection of today's military.
Jennifer Connoly has been my crush since 1984.
“That’s a tranny!!”
Kelly McGillis never did it for me in the first one. At first glance she looked OK in 86 but she wasn’t right for the part. The should have cast a hotter, better known, sexy woman the first time around.
Saw the movie with my wife yesterday...great “summer” movie with just enough (not too much) appropriate flashbacks.
I would call this a very good sequel...not too many of those around.
Star overcomes fears from a flying accident to become a hero and wins beautiful girl - less sophisticated than that? LOL!
Thanks for the review.
I guess you will never find out whether the “maverick” is a tranny. And I’m not telling!
“And the pilots assembled for the dangerous mission were the utmost in diversity, with a tough talking hispanic female, a dorky white guy named Bob, and the rest black and hispanic millennials acting like the had watched the first Top Gun several times in order to learn how to act like an Alpha Male”.
SOS! I’ll save my $.
I am just here for the pic of the hot girlfriend
I know a girl can be truly a hot item - the real ones don’t show it off. Another REAL issue is do they mind being (”WANT” to be) placed under you as their head if you get married. That and their faith is what makes for a long-term heaven or hell.
She’s a tough guy.
Fugeddabouddit.

She was fine AF to me back in the day. :0)
We saw it yesterday. Your review is almost exactly mine.
“...overall the movie was fantastic. It was nail biter.”
A guy movie, but we chicks were on the edges of our seats, too.
“There was NO overt political language and that was very nice given todays movies.”
That stood out to us, too. DH thinks it’s because Cruise is a good businessman and would rather not alienate half of his audience. (If any wokeness like rainbow flags, homo couples, etc., had appeared, we’d have left.) Of course, there was the obligatory diversity but that’s everywhere.
“There were a few shirtless beefcake shots “
Oh, yes. :)
Also interesting was how they worked Iceman (Kilmer) into the plot.
The girl lead Connelly — I’d never heard of her before although my husband had. I didn’t think she was anything special. Even though Kelly McGillis is a lesbian I think she was a stronger counterpart to Cruise — better chemistry.
We’re glad we went; it was very entertaining even though quite fantastical.
