The two issues are related because it is very clear that the West with its dying populations is no longer the center of the world; the significantly larger concentration of people in eastern Asia is. Much of the work is now performed there, and correspondingly more of the spending occurs there. Their leaders determine what our athletes and actors may say publicly, while their cheap goods flood our market and endless population students fill our schools (keeping both retail and higher education afloat here).
Putin doesn’t have to worry about us not buying Russian goods; Asia will. In terms of “Euros being off Russian energy”, they are dying, dwindling populations bolstered only by a stream of immigrants from elsewhere - just like us.
