I thought Lake Tahoe had record snowfall in December.
And huge rainstorms in Northern California to boot.
Megadroughts are caused by changes to the earth’s tilt axis and orbital eccentricity. The desert Southwest is called that for a reason it’s a desert. With a history of century long periods of drought. There is tree rings going back 400+ years that clearly show periods of drought lasting upwards of 100 years. The problem is people trying to grow crops in a desert with irrigation water that was allocated during a period of abnormal wetness not seen in the last 2000+ years the normal for that region is what is commonly called drought conditions. The Colorado River system cannot support 30+ million people plus 7 million acre feet of water just to California with 5 million of that going to grow one species of grass in the desert that shouldn’t eeven be there. You can have 30+ million using Colorado River water OR California irrigate grass and almonds in the desert you cannot have both with the historical flows of that River. Since agricultural is 40% of California water use and total residential is 5% the obvious solution is to not grow water hungry crops in a damn desert.
