“Your obtuseness, sir, marks you as an idiot or a troll.”

I’m none of those things.

I am just tired of certain FReepers being so quick to dash people’s hopes.

GP reports some good news and these party-killers compete to be the first one to post the picture of Lucy pulling away the football.

I like the hopeful headlines - don’t we need a little hope in our lives?

Plus, one of these days, something good will actually happen - remember when President Trump used to ask if we were tired of winning yet?

It happened before, and it could happen again.

***Not if it’s false hope. In the rat drowning experiment, rats would transmit HOPE to each other. But then ALL the rats were drowned to see how long they lasted. So in this case they transmitted FALSE hope.

rat experiment

Shocking Rat Experiment Teaches Powerful Life Lesson

During a BRUTAL study at Harvard in the 1950s, Dr. Curt Richter placed both domesticated and wild rats in a pool of water to test how long they’d survive by swimming around before they gave up.

The difference between the results of the domesticated and wild rats was astonishing. The domesticated rats could swim around for 40-60 hours on average, but the wild rats, on average would give up and sink to their death after 15 minutes. They were the same breed of rat, the only difference was one group was domesticated and one wild.

They came to the conclusion the deaths were more phycological than physical. They gave up mentally, not physically.
In further experiments with the same breed of wild rats, they tried something different: they put them in the water, but right before they gave up due to exhaustion, the researchers would take them out, hold them for a little while, dry them off, let them rest for a few minutes – and put them back in for a second round.

How long do you think they lasted this time?

Remember – they had just swam until failure only a few short minutes ago… They were saved by the researchers before certain death – they had GIVEN UP ON LIFE…

How long do you think they lasted? Another 15 minutes? 10 minutes? 5 minutes?

No! On average they lasted 40-60 hours!

The same as the domesticated group. That’s not an error.

From giving up after 15 minutes… they were then able to go 40-60 HOURS!

The conclusion drawn was that since the rats BELIEVED that they would eventually be rescued, they could push their bodies past what they previously THOUGHT of as impossible.
Before they gave up HOPE after 15 minutes… This time they had HOPE… so they KEPT GOING!

GP is hit and miss but this from a spokesperson for the audit seems like the real deal. Why wouldn’t it be submitted this week ? This is a private company after all this is under contract and deadlines unlike the government.
