I’m an advocate for strong accountability. Also, if more people carried concealed or openly, a police force could be reduced in size by attrition, rather than poorly thought-out reducing funding.

That is a possibility. Tim Pool has advocated getting rid of all police temporarily. Aholes (like this TWOT) will call for riot. BLM/Antifa thugs will show up.... somewhere, and get shot. Like the idiot who attacked the gun in his SUV in downtown Austin, Tx. Driver pulled his gun and blew the Ahole away. Coppers said self defense, no charges.
