You should become a police officer.
Are you a police officer?
Totally agree.
A couple problems with the stop. The soldier did put his hands out the window complying with one officer’s command while the other ordered him to unbuckle his seat belt. If he had done so, and the other officer didn’t hear that command, he would have shot the driver.
Only one officer should be giving commands, usually the senior officer, and then explain why (for his safety, etc).
Still can’t get “true” information about a temporary license/permit or notice in the car’s window (which one, front or back)? A total failure of everyone involved to tell us the truth.
Tinted windows. Could be a state law problem. I don’t like them. They can be dangerous to a police officer.
Cops who don’t know how to do a chain of command stop/commands shouldn’t be cops. Gonna get someone killed.
Some non-city cops are “hardnoses” and should not be on any force. We have had to deal with them. I think one went to jail for beating his wife - State Trooper, Va). Another was either a State Trooper but I think a County cop in Maryland - stupid and should have been fired considering he stopped a federal police nuclear security police officer on his way to an official work related meeting and seized his licensed, personal weapon. The Judge agreed the cop was wrong but Maryland law sucked big time and the gun was taken away. Talk about “buddy-fucking”. It happens more than you know.
I know of other similar examples where bad cops screwed good cops and got away with it.
As I mentioned in an earlier post about this Virginia stop, I’ve got a degree certificate in Police Science, worked with the FBI, DOJ, local and state police on intelligence matters and two murder cases. My AAC teachers were the cream of the crop at No. Va. Community college (FBI, Local police, Secret Service, judges, etc). That was back then. Today I don’t trust a lot of cops because they have poor leadership, some very poor training, corrupt Marxist DAs/CAs controlling them aided and abetted by leftist Democrat mayors, county councils, etc.
This should never have happened and many of us warned about the results of a sustained communist/black extremist and liberal campaign to defang, disarm, and eventually dismantle law enforcement/intelligence agencies as far back as 50 years.
Nobody except a few conservatives wanted to listen and good law enforcement officers have paid with their lives (about 99 so far this year) and thousands have been wounded/injured because of this collapse of better training/equipping for law enforcement officers/departments and cowardly leadership at all levels of government/law enforcement.
No I am not.
Some have said the driver was being belligerent and such. I have seen no indication the driver was doing anything of the sort. He appeared calm, non threatening and cooperative. The only thing he refused to do was get out of the vehicle and that likely saved his life. In the end it sounds like there was no gun involved and there were temporary plates in the window. This as I stated in my first post is a textbook example of whats wrong with the police. In a nutshell the police are escalating when they should be doing the opposite. This fact could not be clearer in this video. At this point law enforcement is literally handing the marxist BLM types their agenda material on a silver platter. Worse yet we have so called conservatives like Greg Kelly who see nothing wrong here. I lost respect for Kelly on this one and I’m glad the Black Guns Matter guy called him out.
The police were never in danger. They (at least the one asshole) were way out of line. Serve and protect.
I would have acted the same way. Contradictory orders, threats of bodily harm for an infraction, fuck off officer.
Threads like this pull the leftwing phonies out of hiding.
They make me want to puke.
I’ve known some cops who were great guys and smart as a whip.
Every butterbar I met was a stupid sorry sob and this guy is a classic.
I know a guy that was a comm tech in the Army in VN. His duty post was a air conditioned comm bunker at a main base. The base commander had standing orders that they keep their issued weapons (1911’s) on them at all times. After a shift in the A/C cooled down bunker if they stepped out side their pistols were instantly soaked in condensation. One day they decided to store the pistol in a locked trunk out side to prevent getting written up for “rusty” pistols. They got written up instead for not having their weapons on them. I asked him about gun oils and he said “the humidity in Nam did care how much oil your gun had on.” ...lol
“Police report says the car had a temporary tag clearly visible in the rear window. So why was he really stopped?”
In Virginia it isn’t legal to have a tag anywhere other than on the front and rear bumpers. Having the tag in the window is the same as not having one.
They probably pulled him over for the illegally placed tag. If the Lt had acted right they probably would have just checked his paperwork, given him a ticket for the illegally placed tag and he would have been on his way. As he is active military they most likely would have explained about the tag and let him go.
The Lt made everything worse in every way.
The uniformed services are simply a slice of the American societal pie. The good, and the bad. Ive observed many a junior officer who simply put, were nothing more than overpaid, arrogant horses arses and seldom advanced beyond their obligated service contracts.
If you go to the local article, you will find the Lt had a concealed carry permit for the weapon, which they verified, and then let him go when they verified the dealer take in the rear window. Couldn’t see it because of window tint.
No,I don’t want to become a LEO. I want to work with people I respect and like. I don’t want to be like them.
The most dangerous police encounters with the public are traffic stops and domestic calls. An officer has no idea what they are walking into in those situations. The officer killed with a rifle during a traffic stop, which if I remember correctly was a “motorist assist” situation, did not see the driver as a threat until it was too late. Maybe he took the driver’s explanation for why he was on the side of the road/highway at face value and let his guard down. The driver wasn’t a threat until he was, which doesn’t console his family.
And, your statement “The police were never in danger. They (at least the one asshole) were way out of line.” is not logical. Was it possible that the driver had just stolen the vehicle and had armed accomplices in the back of the vehicle?
The answer is yes. Until the driver has exited the vehicle and the officers can inspect it for others, they don’t know. You are working off of “after the fact” facts. The officers did not, and could not, know that at the time of the encounter.
You are allowed to have your opinion and obvious anti-cop bias, but I asked that you put yourself in the officers shoes in evaluating the encounter. You appear to be unable to do that. Sorry you are so biased.
For any of you CCP holders planning a sojourn in Florida, be aware that a permitted concealed firearm must be CONCEALED.
If it is laying next to you in the vehicle it isn’t concealed and isn’t covered by a CONCEALED weapons permit - you can be charged with breach of the peace for open display of a firearm.
Beard..... looks more like scrotum hair.
Who would want to be a cop?
A totally thankless job that no sane person will won’t to do leading to more chaos and crime.
his continual refusal to exit the vehicle
= = =
Maybe he figured the gun on the floor was not yet seen, and would be exposed if he got out?
Hmmm, that's the pattern among all thee episodes. Every single one.
Not exactly the conduct expected of military officers back in the day. Have standards fallen this far?
