CO was trending blue long before they legalized marijuana:

Off course.

The blue state (illegal)weed smokers moved to CO first.

CO then legalized weed.

The trend of blue state weed smokers moving to CO continues and even increases.

Which is not what's been happening in Oklahoma. The FR Reefer Madness brigade has been tying themselves in knots dodging the point that deep-red OK has perhaps the free-est marijuana policy in the country.

This article is about Oklahoma - which the President won by 65%. Are you saying deep-red OK wants to dumb down its populace?

The last stats I saw for weed consumption by state had Oklahoma ranked 37th in weed consumption.

All the top 10 states are blue.

This article has a pro legalize weed push piece ring to it.

Which weighs against the Reefer Madness claim that legalization means high levels of use.

Your job sucks.

Your marriage is on the rocks.

Your kids are in trouble.

You buy some alcohol and drink it.

You feel better for awhile.

The next day......

Your job still sucks.

Your marriage is still on the rocks.

Your kids are still in trouble.

Your alcohol dealer is richer.

Your kids are in trouble.

You buy some Bourbon and drink it.

Try that one on.

If other people want to dull their senses through drugs or alcohol, I guess that’s their choice—so long as they do not endanger OTHERS who made a different choice. That includes operating motor vehicles

Amen to all of the above!

and VOTING.

As far as I know, one can vote while drunk as a skunk. I'm open to discussing a change in that policy.

Two separate points that I’m inelegantly making.

Point 1: Oklahomans are taking advantage of a new market in pot. Yay capitalism!

Point 2: Americans, in general, are embracing the legalization of marijuana, and while some applaud it, others see it as just another escape from the somewhat perilous reality into which we are beginning to boil.

That’s the best you can do?

Deflect?

You are going to defend weed by attacking alcohol?

Weak.....really weak.

Legalization as a policy is not an escape - but it may make it easier for some to use marijuana as an escape, as they've been able to legally do for generations with alcohol.

Here’s number two with the deflection.

Weed is OK because alcohol is bad.

What a weak, pathetic argument.

Wrong twice. I'm pointing out that what you said about one applies to the other - so any policy conclusions drawn regarding the one must logically be drawn regarding the other.

I myself use neither, and recommend that choice to all.

The article says OK one of the hottest markets. So the article is wrong then, right?

As far as legalization goes and the levels of usage, it's common sense to conclude that the legalization of a product will increase its usage. More availability, more usage.

Not my argument at all, old chap. Neither one is “good”.

My belief is that people should be free to make their own choices and then live with the consequences of those choices.

Pretty simple, really.

Reasonable - but how much more? Seems to me that just about anyone who wants marijuana has already found it in our unregulated black market.
