President Donald Trump is working hard to secure the battleground state of Pennsylvania in the November election, holding yet another campaign rally there Tuesday night. The president visited the town of Erie for another airport rally with thousands of supporters.
“With your vote, we will continue to cut your taxes, cut regulations, support our great police, protect our 2nd Amendment, defend our borders, and keep jobs and wealth in America where it belongs,” Trump said.
Trump warned voters that Democratic nominee Joe Biden would prolong the coronavirus pandemic by shutting down the economy and closing schools again. He said Americas will see a depression like they’ve never seen before under a Biden administration.
“This is an election between the Trump super recovery which is happening right now and the Biden depression,” said Trump. “It’s a choice between our plan to kill the virus or Biden’s plan to kill the American Dream.
The president was met with thunderous applause when he attacked Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D) for his coronavirus response.
“And by the way, Pennsylvania has been shut down for long enough. Get your governor to open Pennsylvania,” he said.
Trump also hammered home Biden’s statements against coal and fracking. In a first, he used a video montage of Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris saying they would eliminate fossil fuels. The president called the video “an original Donald Trump Broadway play.”
“I guarantee you we are going to end fossil fuels, no more no new fracking,” Biden says in the video. “I think it’s critically important on day one that we end any fossil fuel leases on public lands,” Harris says later on.
Trump said that Pennsylvania can count on him to protect the coal industry saying that he brought back the steel industry after Biden wiped it out.
Biden brushed off the president’s comments and said that Trump has broken his promises to Pennsylvania.
“As president, I will help Pennsylvanians recover from four years of neglect and put working families at the center of our effort to build the economy back better than it was before,” Biden said.
Trump narrowly won Pennsylvania in 2016 getting 48.2% of the vote to Hillary Clinton’s 47.5%. His campaign is not taking any chances this year, increasing their ad buys and ground game in the state.
