The “Shy” Vote: Democrats Are Creating a Larger Trump Voter Base According to a New CloudResearch Poll
Red State ^ | 09/03/2020 | Brandon Morse

Posted on 09/03/2020 12:06:14 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

The Democrats are arranging their own loss.

You’ve heard of the silent majority. It’s a very real body of voters that goes to work, raises their children, lives their everyday lives, and keeps to themselves. They don’t really speak out much but when it comes time to vote they’re heard loud and clear.

Most of these people vote Republican, and in the last presidential election, they spoke very, very loudly.

Research has shown us that this silent majority may have its own little sub-group called the “shy voter.” According to The Hill, it’s unusually quiet. Members of this sub-group don’t share their opinion at any time anywhere, oftentimes out of fear that if they do, they’ll face a load of trouble from an intolerant and emotionally driven opposition.

According to The Hill, CloudResearch took a poll and found some very interesting things about this “shy voter.” Like the silent majority, it’s a huge group of people, and also like the silent majority, it’s primarily looking to vote for Trump in the coming election:

To test this theory, CloudResearch recently sampled American voters in search of what they term “shy voters.” Their results show that Trump supporters were “significantly more reluctant to share their opinions on phone surveys compared to Biden supporters.” Almost 12 percent of Republicans and nearly 11 percent of Independents, were also almost twice as likely to be reticent than Democrats (about 5 percent).

These seemingly small percentages could have major November implications. For illustration of roughly how big, look at 2016 exit polling.

In the last presidential election, 36 percent of voters were Democrats, while 33 percent were Republicans and 31 percent were Independents. Applying CloudResearch’s “shy voter” percentages to each group yields 9 percent of the electorate as not giving their true candidate preferences.

However, those roughly one in 11 reticent voters are not, as CloudResearch discovered, evenly distributed between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Instead, they run about 2-to-1 in Trump’s favor. On the net, they come out to around a 3 percent hidden “Trump bump.”

In other words, there are Trump voters that aren’t just saying they’re Trump voters, they may actually even be lying about who they voted for out of fear. The numbers that pump up the Democrats on exit polling may be off by a little, but the polling numbers on who is voting Republican is off by a lot.

As The Hill notes, a three percent bump may not sound like a lot but three percent is a huge deal in a race that is allegedly as tight as the one between Trump and Biden.

One thing to consider, however, is that the left in this election is far more rabid than the left in the last election. Today, we have cancel culture, Antifa, and Trump supporters literally being executed in the streets. The “shy voter” population may be shyer than ever, so that number may be even higher.

The Hill acknowledges this, stating that Trump supporters have been villainized by the left, making the left’s problem of acquiring voters that much harder:

Democrats could find themselves, again, failing to target the voters they need to shore up. This time it could be more than just blue states they miss, but blue constituencies. The key is that Biden’s campaign cannot know where hidden Trump supporters are.

To top it off, the hidden Trump supporter problem could grow for the left. The left’s violent outbursts are getting worse, or at least less ignorable. The left clearly seems intent in going in that direction or unable to stop it. As incidents get worse, more coverage, or both, they could drive even more Trump supporters underground.

The left is proving itself to be its own worst enemy just like it did in 2016. It pushes itself too fiercely on the American people like a jealous girl on a man who clearly doesn’t want her. Instead of taking the hint and toning it down, they up the chaos, the outrage, and the possessiveness. Just like in 2016, America will do what it can to avoid its crazy ex.

Agreed. I am a loyal and determined Trump supporter but you wouldn’t know by my car, head or yard. I don’t favor seeing my car keyed or being assaulted. I do contribute financially to the campaign but forget the “loud and proud”. I admire those people but I am a female senior citizen in a deep blue state and have to be realistic: the leftists are the real fascists and Brown Shirts.

Polls in 2016 were inaccurate (or corrupt) and they will learn 2020 will be much more extreme.

ANTIFA/BLM is rampaging through the streets. Media, universities, and many corporations are all full-court-press on shrill, “woke” politics, and in many cases, they will seek to punish people who expose their politics. In such an environment, few average Americans would expose their true political feelings to strangers.

Therefore, they lie to or ignore, pollsters. For me, when pollsters call, I purposely lie to them - not out of fear, but to screw with their results.

You are right, it has everything to do with fear. I’m voting for Trump but would never put a sign in my yard or sticker on my car for fear of what the crazy left might do.

I think it is our ace in the hole. Under sampling caused HRC to misallocate resources 4 years ago, and I think it is much worse (or better) this year.

It is really simple.
How many ‘Pubbies or conservatives will key a car with Biden/Harris 2020 on it?
And how many Democrats will key a car (or worse) with Trump/Pence 2020 on it?
You keep quiet, lie to pollsters, and make your political statement in the voting booth.
But one thing to remember - they do know if you voted.

For sure. I can’t talk about politics except with my brother. We agree on all of it.

As for work and others... never happen. The place where I work is VERY liberal and I’d probably be fired.

I certainly would not do a bumper sticker or a yard sign... that just invites vandalism, or worse

For more than half his life, PTrump was a progressive democrat.

People forget. John Jr was his best friend.

“when pollsters call, I purposely lie to them”

There is a lot of that going on for sure. Do you get caller ID that indicates pollsters, or do you just answer the phone and there is one on the other end? If the latter, what does the caller ID say? I do not answer the phone unless I know who it is and I want to talk to them. But I might be tempted to if I know I could help screw up the pollsters numbers.

So you think people voted for him because they thought he was a closet liberal?

True story: I’m walking out of Chipotle with my teenage daughter. We are wearing NOTHING political and my car has NOTHING political on it. As we are walking to our car, a black guy sitting in a car next to us with his window down says: “Yo, you with Trump”? I responded: Absolutely. He responded: “Then go F yourself.”
I wasn’t scared, but I know many women or older folks would have been frightened by this. Yes, some Trump people feel intimidated.

Absolutely spot on. And just as vicious, if not more so. They've attacked cars and their occupants just because the look like they might be Trump supporters. A friend in Provo, Utah, one of the reddest towns in the country, sent me an news items about some white trash BLM supporters who actually shot a man in his vehicle who happened to be driving through for apparently no other reason than he was white and older looking.

They were from out of town and, fortunately, identified quite quickly. The local DA is throwing the book at them.

Good question. The calls are usually to my place of business, so we tend to answer all calls, even though we do get a lot of spam. Sometimes it will say the organization’s name, sometimes a person’s name, sometimes just ‘private caller.’ Few are actually “real people.” Many are robocalls. I have even started get text poll requests to my cell phone. Oddly, those have been for out-of-state issues, that I can’t even vote on. I answer them anyway. Perhaps my willingness to answer has put me on a list of potential suckers who will answer calls. So be it.

Given all this, and the corruption of the media and political hacks who will ultimately use (and spin) these polls, I feel no responsibility whatsoever to give them the truth. I am sorry if some of these may be conservatives looking for the truth, but from the slant of their questioning, I can tell nearly all are liberal pollsters.

I recall a youtube video from 2008, where a person alternately put Obama stickers on their car, and Palin stickers on their car, and measured the number of times each was scratched or vandalized (they had a very cheap car, I recall).

As I remember, the results were far worse than even you might imagine.

The left uses polls to manipulate the electorate; I’m fully supportive of those who mold their responses to mislead and frustrate the pollsters.

If the GOP doesn't deal with the mail-in vote, none of this matters. That is where the election will be stolen.
