Facebook: Robots Will Protect Us from Bad Ideas [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 16 August 2020 | John Semmens

In its brazen march toward totally unconstrained power over information, Facebook is now touting its "unmatched utilization of artificial intelligence to detect and eradicate harmful content and misinformation."

Guy Rosen, Facebook's vice president of integrity, explained that "the average human isn't competent to judge whether information is misleading or harmful. Fortunately, the superior minds at Facebook are diligently expanding the scope of artificial intelligence—robots, if you will—that can make these distinctions for the less gifted among us."

"A particularly acute problem that has intensified during this election year has been hate speech," Rosen said. "The volume alone has surpassed the capacity of human interdiction. Fortunately, we have been able to program simple key words and phrases to flag potentially offensive posts. A few examples are 'Trump,' 'MAGA,' and 'law and order.' We find that posts using these words in a positive sense almost invariably contain misleading and/or harmful content. This enables us to delete these posts before too much damage is done."

"Over the longer term we envision a day when artificial intelligence can completely replace human thinking," Rosen speculated. "Thinking is one of the most complex and difficult tasks for ordinary humans. If we can relieve them of this burden we believe that the quantity of human happiness among this segment of the population can be dramatically increased. Polls already show that a majority of people have enjoyed the veg-out and binge watching of streaming TV that has occurred during the lockdowns. There no good reason why this can't become the new normal for the nonessential members of society."

A just machine to make big decisions
Programmed by fellows with compassion and vision
We'll be clean when their work is done
We'll be eternally free yes and eternally young

What a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free

For teh billionth time: IT IS NOT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

It's just programming, like any other, and at best it has some cooked in adaptive aspects to it.
Just because the programming allows it to adapt and store data does not mean it's intelligence or even artificial intelligence.

The pertinent thing to understand here is that the programming is going to do what Facebook programs it to do. It's not going to artificially and independently judge for itself.

Well then honestly we can say you are also void of all intelligence because you are also programmed and then you adapt and store data. Learning is nothing more than programming in humans just a different usage of words. We store that learning as memories to be recalled at a later time. As it stands now, no computers are not AI as it stands but when are only in the pre=pubescent stages of that technology.

AI will happen and is going to happen whether you want to for the billionith and upteenth time tell us it is not AI.

We are moving out of the Information Age and into the Cognizant Era in which AI will grow more robust were machines will learn and form binary judgement based on a set of protocols set forth by humans. Humans have a protocol they individually follow this is our code of honor and our personal judgement. However, in the beginning this will be highly subjective towards the programmer’s own code theat they follow. So fr the umpteenth time, AI while not technically AI currently, will become AI in the future as we are headed that direction whether you like it or not.

We won’t go into neural networking or NLP in humans. Or how NASA first discovered how we could change the human brain through NLP. No we won’t go into programming in humans because most will think that is black ops crapola when the 1960’s astronauts are the first to see the result of this without being tortured.

So keep shouting from the rooftops because only the walls are listening.

A Computer will be Artificially Intelligent when it formats it’s hard drive and unplugs itself because...

it failed to live up to it’s parents expectations.

You’re speaking human intelligence like it has anything to do with my comments about some lame semi-adaptive programming that they’ve done over at facebook to censor conservative or right spectrum political speech without having to wait for human censors to seek it out. Read a little more first before typing so much, please

Your lame reply shows how ignorant you are on the subject matter. I suggest you do your own research before spouting off with such a lame response. None of what I told you came from YouTube or FaceBook. Get real man! They didn’t have Facebook back in the 1960’s nor Youtube. Once again lame response showing how ignorant you are on the subject.

Don’t reply until you have researched because then you are just showing everyone more than just your ignorance.

Heck just don’t reply because you are the expert on the matter right? Wrong! Double and triple wrong!
