Ex-FBI lawyer charged with felony, to plead guilty to altering evidence in Russia probe

Former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith was charged Friday with a felony and has agreed to plead guilty to altering a document in the Russia collusion probe, the first criminal case to be brought in the investigation of U.S. Attorney John Durham, according to officials and a court document.

Ahead of his plea, Clinesmith was charged in federal court in Washington D.C. with one count of making a false statement for altering information he had received from the CIA in June 2017 to hide the fact that Trump campaign official Carter Page was a source for the Agency.

The alteration caused the Justice Department to make a false representation to the FISA Court that approved surveillance of Page for nearly a year, the criminal information filed by Durham states.

Clinesmith "did willfully and knowingly make and use a false writing and document knowing the same to contain a materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statement and entry in a matter before the jurisdiction of the executive branch and judicial branch," the court filing said.

The alteration caused the Justice Department to make a false representation to the FISA Court that approved surveillance of Page for nearly a year, the criminal information filed by Durham states.

LOL. So it was all Kevin Clinesmith’s fault. His edit CAUSED DOJ to make a false representation to FISA.

So the Dems have found their fall guy? And a year or so from now he will have a cushy job at some very liberal university, right?

It shouldn’t be just the person who altered documents. It should also be those who knew that it had been altered and used it (them) to bring a concocted case against the president.

If a false case was brought up by police and the courts knew that is was a false case, it would be the duty of the courts to dismiss the case, and take legal action against the person who concocted the case, while also bringing legal action against those that knew it was a fake case and still went ahead with prosecuting the case.

What if I told you that Crossfire Hurricane FBI Agents knew that Carter page was a source for the CIA and went ahead and spied anyway?

What if I told you Crossfire Hurricane FBI Agents knew that the email from the CIA said that he was one of their sources and they ignored it?

The Crossfire Hurricane Team knew that Carter was a CIA asset before the this guy’s lie. They still investigated. He committed a felony for naught. Repeat, he lied for nothing, investigators already knew and turned a blind eye.

Durham should indict the whole Crossfire Hurricane Team.

The bigger story here is that Clinesmith was working on the Mueller team until early 2018. So you have a situation here where an FBI employee was assigned to work on a Federal prosecutor’s staff after he had previously engaged in malfeasance to alter evidence and illegally obtain a FISA warrant in the matter he was investigating.

This is no trivial matter, folks.

I think this whole charade is going to be blown out of the water before Election Day.

...and has agreed to plead guilty

I’m surprised this lawyer didn’t roll the dice with a trial. After all, in DC it would be an all-rat jury pool. They’d bevunlikely to return a guilty verdict.

I think this whole charade is going to be blown out of the water before Election Day.

It should have happened long before now. And why dump it on Friday? It will be forgotten by Monday.

Hopefully, he implicated some higher ups. Apparently, they’re going to pull out one tooth at a time, as slowly as possible.

"So the Dems have found their fall guy?

He'll have a job at MSNBC or CNN.
That's how the Dems have been paying off their
operatives who get caught or those who sacrifice
themselves for the "cause."

But you may be right too.
Then there is always the "book deal."

There will be some that will attempt that narrative, but at the end of the day, this ol boy Klinesmith could have been charged with conspiracy to commit treason and plead to the lesser crime in exchange for information on those who ordered him to do what he did.

Just a gut feeling from interviews with Barr, comments from the president and other conservative media folks touting sources...the hammer is about to fall.

What if I told you Brennan was the head of the CIA when Carter Page worked there, and That all that time under investigation by the FBI, Carter Page never bothered to tell the world he has been a CIA agent all along?

And what if we remember for a moment that nobody expected Trump would win? Carter page was in this mess up to his eyeballs, and found a way to land on his feet.

He’s a snake, look at him smirk when he gets interviewed. If Hillary would’ve won, we would’ve never heard of Page. FBI needed someone with Russian connections to give them an excuse to spy on Trump. CIA sins over one of their assets with extensive Russian contacts and gets him into the campaign. That’s how I see it
