I have to pay for government schools I don’t use. No way I should have to pay for schools that aren’t in session. Public schools have far more bureaucratic bloat than private. What about all the assistant vice principals, counselors, resource officers, physical plant factotums...what about the public school teachers who won’t grade online work because some students may have “disadvantaged” computer systems or internet connections. Fuck that.

No one is forcing her to teach. She can quit and find different work.

Keep public schools closed permanently.

Establish a refundable tax credit that will allow parents to send their daughters and sons to private schools or homeschool them instead.

That would reform the culture.

Thank you.

I’d prefer not paying her or other teachers, of course. Private pay or private charity!

Exactly.

It’s all about the Teacher’s Unions connection to the DNC.

You’re absolutely right....where are the other essential workers, like grocery and freight delivery people, grocery workers, restaurant workers (some folks, believe it, or not...depend on restaurants for food....think, well, never mind) falling over from Covid?

Oh, that’s right...they’re not.

Now, get your @ss back to class and do your d@mn job, Karen.

i live in Virginia.
some young mom i know was told the same thing by a teacher.
The teacher also said A) we’re not your babysitter and B) If you could not afford to stay in and take care of your child, you should not have had her.

"I am prepared to take a bullet to save a child. In the age of school shootings, that’s what the job requires."

What nonsense. The chance of a teacher finding themselves in such a situation is way closer to zero than a teacher finding themselves nude in bed with a student.

That has to be one of the most ridiculous arguments I have even read.

In reality retail clerks, pizza delivery drivers, police and hundreds of thousands of other people face much more danger every day. And they do their job without whining about it.

Midlothian, VA. Tell the school board either teach in September at school, 5 days a week..... OR shut down. Return every effing penny of my property taxes taken for the schools. You don’t teach at school, you don’t get an effing dime.

Efff you and your “hostage” play!!!!!

Then you should quit your job and allow a young teacher who wants to work take your place in the classroom.

It is in everyone’s interest to see remote teaching succeed.

Nothing will kill the Public Education monster faster or more effectively.

Nothing will improve the education of our nation's children more than having their parents once again take a direct role in teaching their children. We have a great opportunity to lead parents across America into homeschooling, and schooling where groups of parents work together, with remote education in the mix.

Let's all work to help families that want to keep their children safely learning without the headaches of public schools and their poorly planned COVID-19 responses.

Teachers have no skin in the game. Of course they want to stay home. They are still getting paid.

I am fine with them fearful to show up. They should stay home and school districts should stop paying their salaries. They can seek other employment.
