Yes, The Soviets and their offspring today consider Christianity and specifically the deeply organized Catholic Church the last repository and defender of Western Civilization. It was Christianity that declared the Natural Law to be ordained by God to govern humankind. Since Communism was atheistic and the Natural Law stressed the freedom of conscience that made political freedom possible for a Faithful people. That was anathema to the reds who have a Socialist government defined by Marx as Suppressive; as it destroys the middle class (Bourgeoisie) the foundation of Capitalism on their way to perfecting humankind into utopian Communism. Any institution that teaches the existence of God and the Natural Law is above the Party must be destroyed.
