America Must Hold the Corrupt News Media Accountable in Order to Survive

We must find a way to hold the corrupt corporate news media accountable before they destroy our country. – That’s been a consistent theme here at Today’s Campaign Update for four years now (today is the 4th anniversary of the very first Campaign Update posted on my Facebook page during the heat of the 2016 campaign), and it has become more urgent than ever. Because, as I noted yesterday, the media literally has the deaths of an untold number of Americans on its hands due to its focused disinformation campaign related to Hydroxychloroquine.

Dr. David Samadi, a Fox News medical contributor, put it this way on Twitter yesterday:

This is exactly the thing. Let’s remember that the media’s campaign to demonize the use of HCQ in treating COVID-19 provided cover to despot Democrat governors like Steve Sisolak in Nevada and Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan to temporarily ban the use of the drug for that purpose in their states. There is no question that that campaign, which included the knowing dissemination of bogus “studies” – one of which shamefully came out of the CDC – also intimidated doctors all over the country who might have otherwise prescribed HCQ to their patients and potentially saved their lives.

But while we focus our ire on our depraved news media establishment, we need to also remember the key role played by another prominent individual in all of this, a man who most assuredly knew better. Dr. Samadi called that person out as well:

Why indeed? To be clear: Dr. Fauci and the CDC have known since at least 2005 about the efficacy of HCQ in treating COVID-like viral infections. Yet, from the moment President Trump touted its use related to this virus at an early White House task force press briefing, Fauci has been in the media panning it. In those same media appearances, Fauci has focused on the promotion of incredibly expensive, unproven experimental drugs being developed by an array of Big Pharma companies in their quest to make billions off of this national health crisis.

Why? Why would he do that? Isn’t the answer obvious?

Fauci is the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which is closely tied into and receives support from those same pharmaceutical manufacturers. Those Pharma companies essentially serve as NIAID’s lobby before congress, which helps to explain why a government institute that has consistently failed in its mission sports a $5 billion budget.

Oh.

HCQ is cheap, it is widely available and it has been used for decades mainly as a malaria treatment all over the world. There is no money to be made from HCQ.

For the corrupt, corporate news media, the motive initially seems less clear. That is, until you get to the next commercial break and suffer through yet another 90-second ad for some new drug with a mysterious name that was made up by a million dollar consultant.

This drug won’t cure you – because, hey, there’s no money in curing you – but it will dampen your symptoms at a very high price if you take it every day for the rest of your life. And, as you watch the images of some chubby 60 year-old who has the same ailment as you do leading a marching band through the streets of some Hollywood sound set designed to look like a 1950s town in middle America, you will want crave drug even as you sit through the 75 seconds of carefully-written legal disclaimers describing all of the horrible things that drug just might do to you instead of alleviating your symptoms.

The air time for that ad costs a bunch of money on NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC or even low-rated CNN. It is the life’s blood that keeps those fake news operations on the air.

Oh.

Let’s also be clear that the demonization of HCQ was not – as those corrupt media organizations contend – just a matter of them reporting the news. There is no question that it was a highly-coordinated effort – complete with focus-grouped talking points that every reporter parroted word-for-word – that was motivated by the belief that demonizing that cheap, plentiful, well-understood drug would harm the President and his re-election chances.

This isn’t journalism- it’s a political campaign. Can any thinking person really doubt that if Barack Obama had endorsed HCQ, the media’s and Fauci’s reactions would have been entirely different? Like, 180 degrees different? Of course, they would have been.

Had Obama endorsed the drug, Governors Whitmer and Sisolak would have been demanding their legislatures allocate hundreds of millions of dollars to give the stuff away for free. They’d have ordered that every 7-11 in their state stock the stuff on their candy shelves and forced Girl Scouts to hand it out along with their cookies.

You all know this is true, don’t you? Of course you do.

The simple fact is that Americans are dead today because the news media and Democrat governors, supported by Anthony Fauci, treated HCQ not as the potentially life-saving medication that it is, but as a political football.

It’s easy to see how Fauci can and eventually will be held accountable for his serial mendacity about every element of this pandemic. If we are to ultimately survive as a society in its current form, America must find an effective way to hold these corrupt media organizations accountable as well.

That is all.

It is important that someone calculate how many people died due to the media/Faluci campaign to discredit the HCQ/zinc regimen. A reasonable estimate can be calculated. We need to hammer the media with the calculated number.

I think we are given the media far too much attention and credit. In today’s world we and you are the media. Most of us decide on what’s best for our lives not by what the media tells us but by what we know is logical.

There are a lot of conservatives who believe there is such a thing as good Democrats because they’re family members because they chat with them.
There isn’t.
They are willing to kill to achieve political power. Leftists have always been like this. 200 million dead in the 20th century. Why would anyone think that just because the leftist is in America, he would be any different?

The enemedia has blood on it’s hands for a variety of reasons. Stoking a race war, sympathy for criminal aliens and so on. Trump is right when he called them the enemy of the people. When I happen to watch their groveling sympathetic messages I want to throw a brick through the TV. They truly are the Devil’s Disciples.

America’s ignorance breaks my heart. Too many young people of voting age are clueless; they “aren’t into politics.” If they watch any news, it’s whatever is on in gyms, waiting rooms, or airports- mainly MSM. It’s not that they don’t have the capability to learn the truth via the internet, it’s because they are not interested. That’s why it’s so easy for leftist professors to pour lies into their empty heads.

After Sisolak banned the medical people in Nevada from using HCQ—it was discovered that the Nevada prison system had ordered thousands of doses of the drug.

Was he stockpiling it for the Democrat elite in this state?

Or was he going to resell it for high prices?

Either way, this current Governor in Nevada needs to answer for this.

The 1964 New York Times Co. v. Sullivan decision basically repeals restrictions against libeling conservatives. It doesn’t sound like that, in fact it sounds good:
". . . libel can claim no talismanic immunity from constitutional limitations. It must be measured by standards that satisfy the First Amendment”
Everyone loves himself some First Amendment. So what could be wrong? Let me count the ways:

  1. The conceit that 1A touched libel law at all was novel in American jurisprudence in 1964. The reason should be clear to any conservative who hears the history which they already know about the Bill of Rights.

    The Federalists had one overarching objective - to dispel controversy over the ratification of the Constitution. They initially sought to avoid controversy over the effect of the Constitution on rights by simply omitting reference to them in the Constitution - and arguing that the Constitution didn’t change them at all. The Antifederalists succeeded in extracting the promise of a bill of rights by amendment from the Federalists.

    With the necessity of adding a bill of rights foisted on them, the Federalists then did two things:

    1. In the first eight amendments, they enumerated only those rights which tyrants had historically abused. Including the freedom of the press, but not explicitly the right to sue for libel damages.

    2. In the Ninth Amendment
      The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.
      the Federalists took cognizance of the fact that rights were matters of Common Law, nowhere comprehensively codified. There is nothing in 1A explicitly modifying the right to sue for libel, and nothing excepting that right from protection under 9A. The right to sue for libel therefore was, and therefore is, unchanged. Justice Brennan and the entire Warren Court to the contrary notwithstanding.

  2. Journalism is the discipline of attracting attention by publishing news which is difficult to ignore. That is, frightening news. Journalism is about bad news, and journalists know it.

    Knowing that journalism is negative, journalists claim (or powerfuly imply) that journalism is objective. But "the conceit that 'negativity is objectivity’” is difficult to improve on as a definition of cynicism. Journalists are cynics - cynical about society. And since as Common Sense points out, society and government are in a real sense opposites, cynicism towards society maps directly to naiveté about government. Journalism is thus institutionally disposed towards socialism.

  3. Everything you can say bad about journalism is magnified by the fact that the wire services have inevitably created a journalism cartel. The wire services create continual virtual meetings among all major journalists and or Adam Smith’s dictum that " People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.” is amply borne out in the herd-like behavior of journalists.

    It is wire service journalism which mercilessly libels conservatives, and assure that “the buck stops here_nowhere_.

Excellent question. The media never airs retractions, nor admits mistakes. Rand Paul, talk radio, Fox News social media, etc. will get the message to 60% of the people.

What you have stated here is, by far, the most important task confronting America today. Why? Because the anti-American news media is successfully indoctrinating millions of people in this country who are clueless concerning American history.

Well and truly said, and every word of it. I have told every acquaintance and family member my belief that every Democrat politician and every one of their supporters are either evil or ignorant or both. Consequently nobody in my world will utter a word to the contrary, which means there are a number of people, including relatives, who avoid me like I have the Chinese virus. My response? GOOD RIDDANCE to all of them!
