California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) this week shut down wineries, indoor dining, movie theaters, museums and zoos in 19 counties across the state....Conveniently, Gavin Newsom’s vineyard, Plumpjack Winery, located in Napa Valley is open for business.

Napa Valley is not being targeted by Newsome....Plumpjack Winery attempted damage control after major public backlash by deleting their Instagram post (TGP grabbed screenshots before deletion) bragging about being open for the 4th of July weekend...As of Thursday evening, after being completely booked up for the 4th of July weekend, Plumpjack Winery’s next available tasting is Tuesday July 7.

However, by Friday morning Plumpjack’s website no longer lists available tastings so it is unclear if they temporarily stopped taking reservations after public backlash...

I wonder if any of those counties where wineries are not allowed to be open border the Napa Valley and have popular wineries.

I'm more of a Finger Lakes winery person myself.

Shame we can’t get PA Gov. Wolf on something like this. As far as I can tell his only business is stealing his governor’s salary from the PA Treasury.

Finger Lakes is definitely a superior experience if you really want a nice relaxing refreshing little traffic wine tour...

Not just the winery-she also has an ultra-pricey B&B nearby-I’d love to know if that is open as well...

Have you visited Ohio’s wine country?

About four hours West of the Finger Lakes. Lots of nice wineries in Lake Erie’s microclimate of North East Ohio.

Yes, I have.

I find the wines too sweet and fruity and full of too much catawba.

NY has some surprisingly good dry reds.

Through some convoluted marriages of cousins and nieces, Newsome turns out to be related to Pelosi.

NEED TO KNOW: does his winery supply Nancy’s spa?

You should try Ohio again.

It must have been a while since you were here.

There growth in wineries here has been startling.

In Ashtabula County there has been at least two new wineries a year in the last 3 years.

Laurentia Vineyards has some very good reds.

Really I can only think of one winery in NE Ohio that does catawba wines.

Are you sure that it wasn’t NW Ohio were fruit and sweet wine is much more a thing.

Ohio has a wine country?

Is it just growler jugs with XXX on the side of them or what?

PlumpJack Winery was founded by former San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and current governor of California and businessman and philanthropist, Gordon Getty (son of J. Paul Getty, the founder of Getty Oil Company) and partners. The PlumpJack property is located on the eastern side of Oakville, just north of the Oakville Cross Road. Noted nearby neighbors include Screaming Eagle, Groth Vineyards & Winery & Rudd Estate. This winery and property is part of the PlumpJack holdings including restaurants and event spaces (mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area), PlumpJack catering, PlumpJackSport, a clothing store in Squaw Valley and resorts including in Carmel, Lake Tahoe (Squaw Valley) and Palm Springs. PlumpJack used to own the Carneros Resort and Spa, near the city of Napa.
