Oregon Emergency Bill Would Suspend Due Process Amid COVID-19 Pandemic
PJ Media ^ | June 24, 2020 | Jeff Reynolds

Oregon Governor Kate Brown (D-Portland) convened the Oregon legislature into emergency session on Wednesday, which is expected to last two or three days. The agenda has several bills, including HB 4212. That bill includes a clause written by Martha Walters, the chief justice of Oregon’s Supreme Court, at the request of Brown. This clause will allow Walters to suspend due process for up to sixty days if she deems it necessary during the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of the legislature reining Gov. Brown in after her illegal orders under the CCP coronavirus pandemic, they have proposed to expand the emergency powers of state government.

They’ll totally give them back after the emergency ends, though....More to the point, any emergency going forward can justify the courts suspending due process in any case. Of course, the bill contains an emergency clause, which means it takes effect immediately upon passing and severely limits the power of the people to refer it to the general ballot for a vote....

I would say "Unbelievable," but so many things only four months ago I would never believe I would see have come to pass.

Screw her. The folks in Oregon are way past tired of her socialist power grab.

This is crazy.

Trump should do something to stop this, but I don’t think he will.

What is the evidence of this?

Because so far all I see of the people of Oregon and people in most other states is supreme sheeptitude.

They're trying to hit the population with an information overload, a squeeze from the top (Democrat governors and legislatures) and from below (widespread street-level violence amid job loss and economic uncertainty).

They hope to panic the American people to run off the cliff, like the western tribes used to do with buffalo herds.

Someone just realized she can’t keep OR in lockdown without a LAW giving her the power to do it.
Suspending due process says they can arrest people for just about anything.
This is beyond dangerous.

Suspend the Constitution? Sounds like passive insurrection.

This already has happened everywhere there’s been a lockdown. No court cases move forward.

I have friends with court cases that won’t restart until late this year.

Unfortunately, you are correct and you describe the situation very aptly.

You just can’t make this stuff up.
We record the lowest deaths since March and the Dem governors go even more crazy over “the pandemic” than ever.

That bill includes a clause written by Martha Walters, the chief justice of Oregon’s Supreme Court, at the request of Brown.

So...forget about brining a legal challenge to Oregon Supreme Court.

The government is supposed to be deathly afraid of the people, not the other way around.

Oregon democrats and Kate Brown were trying to destroy Oregon’s economy and freedoms before the Wuhan was a glimmer in Xi’s eye.

Is this your vanity blog? All this is doing is giving people more time to meet case deadlines in litigation. No suspension of due process in what you posted.

“They hope to panic the American people to run off the cliff, like the western tribes used to do with buffalo herds.”

Yes, and then they can round up the rest of the unwoke, haul them off the camps and exterminate them. Rush was saying the other day that the monument destruction, etc., is not the end, it’s the beginning. Next they’ll be coming for US. Some of you say this is CW II. If so, where the hell is our side? Going about our business, hoping it’s not true, it seems. It’s all one-sided. They’re on the offense, there’s virtually no defenders of the good ol’ USA, apparently.
