So, hiding INDOORS was precisely the right thing if you want to DIE.
Important new data on vitamin D supplements in the fight against CV.
My Vitamin D supplement is Florida Keys sunshine. About 4-6 hours a day outside!
I’ve been taking 10,000 units/day of D-3 for 4yrs, along w/ 25 other Rxs/ OTCs, on Drs’ orders.
I’ve been on 16000 IUs (8 little gelcaps) per day for a year. My D level is 104, right at high (not dangerous) level, though medicine has no idea what toxic levels are for humans. It’s the closest thing to a fountain of youth.
Sunshine is best, unless one is fair skinned as these individuals are susceptible to skin cancer and premature aging issues. I have enough native American DNA that it isn’t a problem for me, but I know many who have skin cancer. And I had a friend, an avid fisherman, who died from skin cancer. For these folks, the supplement is far safer.
5,000 units of D3 for me over the past many, many years....in addition to sunshine.
I also take a daily whole foods multi-vitamin of mega dose levels, too.
I take 5,000 units/day of D3 with K. I double the D3 if I feel a cold coming on.
I have to thank Jim Rob, FreeRepublic, and the people contributing here for teaching me 3 things as Covid-19 was starting in America.
1. Most Americans have a Vitamin D deficiency
2. Fat people have a worse deficiency because Vitamin D is fat soluble
3. Vitamin D is necessary for a healthy immune system to combat disease
Two months ago I bough some Vitamin D with K2, and have been taking 5,000 IU every other day. Many people take it 5,000 IU every day, but it seems like a lot. I know some doctors say you need 4,000-6,000 IU daily, and some say that is too much.
As a fat person, should I be taking 5,000 IU daily? I still can’t figure it out
But boy oh boy! I am sure grateful for FreeRepublic and grateful to the knowlegeable people here who taught me I should take Vitamin D supplements with K2 for my vitamin deficiency.
This is important even if Covid 19 goes away. I will be taking Vitamin D supplements for life, so thank you all so very very much.
I like Mega-Man's for a multi. It has the daily zinc too.
I read this here 10 years ago, my SO and I have been taking 10,000 units daily ever since and have not been sick at all. I'm 68.
and people produce less in winter in the northern hemisphere because of less sun and less sun exposure
its never been a surprise people get sicker in winter and less vitamin d is a real factor
Three of my other OTCs are a multi-vitamin and 1,000 units of Vitamin C, and 60mg of Zinc..
“Ive been on 16000 IUs (8 little gelcaps) per day for a year. My D level is 104, right at high (not dangerous) level...”
15k IU per day for me, blood level about 90-95 ng/mL. Definitely does lots of good. Google Dr John Cannell or Vitamin D council. He claims 100 to 130 is a great range. Be sure to take it with synergistic nutrients such as vit K2-mk7 and magnesium.
Best to consult a health professional who really understands nutrients and is willing to collaborate on health
Is there a dose when someone can say it’s not enough? I take 100 MCG (4000 IU) per day. Hope that is enough.
Sunshine turns cholesterol into Vitamin D. Win win.
Been taking D3 and Zinc Sulfate every day now for at least 10 weeks now..
C as well
Just bought time-released B12 today because i read a thread about it yesterday concerning my recently acquired Tinnitus.
I too have learned much from the posters on FR. Thank your Jim Robinson, and ALL contributors here, who take the time to share much vital information with your fellow FReepers!
Several more life changing supplements I'd recommend are:
CoQ10
Astaxanthin
Probiotic
Consider giving these to your older pets too, after adjusting the dosage by body weight. We give it to our 12 yo pup and it has really made a difference in his health and energy level.
