At Long Last, Minnesota Officials Arrest Derek Chauvin
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon

Posted on 05/29/2020 10:49:47 AM PDT by EyesOfTX

Two days too late, news broke late this morning that Minnesota officials finally decided to arrest Derek Chauvin, the dirty cop who killed George Floyd earlier this week. Had the arrest been made on Wednesday, many Minneapolis/St. Paul businesses that have been burned in the meantime might still be open for business.

Meanwhile, we’ve had all sorts of stuff come up this morning to talk about:

Floyd and Chauvin actually worked security together at a night club for several years, according to multiple media reports quoting the club’s owner;

The Minneapolis Police Department admits that Chauvin had had no fewer than EIGHTEEN prior complaints filed against him during the course of his career. Only two of those complaints resulted in any disciplinary action;

Another officer who stood around at the scene without trying to restrain Chauvin as he killed Floyd, Tou Thao, has had six complaints filed against him. Thao was also the subject of an excessive force lawsuit that the City settled out of court in 2017:

The lawsuit was brought by Lamar Ferguson, who claimed in the suit that Thao and another officer subjected him to “cruel and unusual” punishment when they arrested him in October 2014. According to the lawsuit, the officers used “unreasonable force,” including “punches, kicks and knees to the face and body while Ferguson was defenseless and handcuffed.” As a result, Ferguson suffered broken teeth, bruising and trauma, the lawsuit says. The city would go on to pay Ferguson and his attorney $25,000 to settle the lawsuit on December 11, 2017.

Meanwhile, as all hell was continuing to rain down around him, feckless Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was trying to change the subject:

Yes, because the arrest of a reporter who had spent several minutes arguing with police in an emergency situation while blocking their sight lines is what we want state officials to be focused on here.

But hey, that pales in comparison to pathetic radical leftist Mayor Jacob Frey, whose focus was on whether or not protesters were wearing their masks and practicing social distancing:

Minneapolis Mayor to Rioters: Please Practice Social Distancing, Wear Masks

22,568 Protesters throw objects onto a burning car outside a Target store near the Third Police Precinct on May 28, 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during a demonstration over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, who died after a police officer kneeled on his neck for several minutes. - …

You seriously cannot make this stuff up, folks.

The fact that Chauvin and Floyd worked at the same establishment over the course of several years indicates that we have much more to learn about what motivated Chauvin in this situation. Something else that we do not yet know about is at play here.

But, if it is left up to Minnesota officials to discover what that is, we will probably never find out about it.

Elections have consequences, and what we see happening in Minnesota this week is the direct consequence of decades of Minnesota voters electing Democrats to high office.

Stop doing that, Minnesotans.

That is all.

Minneapolis Mayor to Rioters: Please Practice Social Distancing, Wear Masks

WTF?

It’s not, “Hey, stop looting and burning!” It’s, “OMG, that guy is looting while standing next right to a person trying to set fire the building, and neither has a mask on.”

Out of Touch

And his sudden, unexpected, unwitnessed suicide will be a mystery for sure.

MY theory, derived from few data points, but something to ponder.

Floyd and Chauvin have known each other, it’s reported, for years.

They worked together doing security at a night club.

Floyd had a counterfeit $20 on him, apparently was trying to pass it off.

Several cops stood by while Floyd was - arguably - murdered.

I think it was to silence him. He’d become a risk factor to an inside operation either printing or distributing counterfeit currency.

It’s happened before. Cops and contraband. Drugs, watches, jewelry, cars, currency. The lure of easy money.

But maybe I just watched too many cop and detective shows as a kid.

Hated reading murder/cop mysteries, I always figured out whodunnit long before the reveal.

FWIW.

Burning and looting do NOTHING to improve the situation. What is accomplished? White guilt translates into tax dollars that will be poured into damaged neighborhoods and the pockets of corrupt politicians. The burning/looting scenario has nothing to do with anger and everything to do with an attitude that somebody owes me.

It’s amazing the pretzels people will twist themselves into to explain things to their own satisfaction.

The people going on about this being a “false flag” operation intended to START riots, discredit POTUS Trump, etc., are the REAL Pretzel Logic crowd.

They’re like antivaxxers and Bill Gates paranoid theorists.

This will not quiet down the rioters. Far from it. It only emboldens them to move on to the next step: prosecution and conviction. You know as well as I do that acquittal will result in Minneapolis being totally burned down.

“This will not quiet down the rioters.”

“Some say” ... that the majority of the rioters aren’t local, but hired protesters bused in to keep the anger stoked.

This was not a false flag event, just that the dirty cop had a proven history of blowing up fast, having a short fuse. The Hard Left (BLM, Antifa, along with their enablers, supporters and fellow travelers) were fast to exploit the situation. These people of course with a short fuse, seeking out any excuse to “feel offended or disrespected”.

DemonRats never let a crisis go to waste. But, it is curious how when one crisis ends another promptly begins.

Even some conservatives were complaining about how long it took to formally arrest the officer, but this ignores the obvious fact that police officers are authorized to use force, so that a use of force needs to be investigated if there is any ambiguity at all in the circumstances.

Some will say that there is no ambiguity at all in the video, but we have often seen video that creates a false or misleading impression of what actually happened. It took police several WEEKS to file charges against Jussie Smollett, but only a couple of days in this case.

And three years after the Russia/Flynn hoax, none of the mostly-white perpetrators have been charged with anything.
