Skip to comments.William Barr is Showing how a Functioning Justice Department can Still Work

The fallout from Obamagate continues to accelerate. Attorney General William Barr announced late yesterday that he has appointed a federal prosecutor in Texas to review the thousands of unmasking requests made by high officials during the final weeks of the Obama Administration. This new probe will be carried out by the appropriately-named John Bash, the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Texas.
From a report in the Daily Caller:
Bash will carry out the probe in coordination with U.S. attorneys John Durham and Jeff Jensen, who are looking into various aspects of the Trump-Russia investigation.
The attorney general determined that certain aspects of unmasking needed to be reviewed separately as a support to John Durhams investigation, Kupec told Fox News Sean Hannity.
On May 13, Republican senators released a list of 39 Obama-era government officials who submitted requests for intelligence reports during the presidential transition period that identified Flynn, the incoming national security adviser.
The documents showed that former Vice President Joe Biden, former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan and other officials in the Obama administration submitted requests for information regarding Flynn.
Kupec said that while the process of unmasking is not inherently wrong, Barr is analyzing whether Obama officials had political motives in submitting requests for reports that identified Flynn.
Barrs move comes amid rising calls for DOJ to appoint a special counsel to investigate not just the massive unmasking operation conducted by the Obama Coup Cabal, but the massive abuse of the FISA process that facilitated the Crossfire Hurricane illegal spying operation against the Trump Campaign and transition team. Such calls are wrong-headed and should be roundly rejected by any thinking person.
As we saw with the incredibly abusive Mueller operation, special counsel probes invariably turn political, and often devolve into Soviet-style inquisitions complete with entrapments, Nazi-style raids on homes and the literal framing of innocent people.
Barrs approach is vastly preferable. Instead of appointing a special counsel under a law that places no limits on timing and budgets, or sidebars on the scope of the investigation, Barr has appointed a series of U.S. attorneys to investigate small, discrete chunks of the vast conspiracy mounted by the Obama White House, DOJ/FBI and Intelligence Community to fix the 2016 election and then to remove a duly-elected President via a soft coup detat on American soil. Unlike the similar appointment of Utah U.S. Attorney John Huber by Jeff Sessions back in 2017, Barrs appointees actually produce results.
Simply put, the Special Counsel law is antithetical to the preservation of a free and just society. It should never be used again, and frankly should be repealed by congress.
AG Barr is providing us all with an alternative framework for how a truly functional Department of Justice can much more effectively and efficiently get to the bottom of massive wrongdoing without engaging in FBI actions reminiscent of the KGB and unending abuses of the rights of innocent U.S. citizens.
It is no wonder, then, that the Democrats and their corrupt media toadies hate and fear him so deeply. But the rest of us who actually care about our countrys future should remain patient with this man, because he is hovering right over the target.
That is all.
Ive said since the beginning - the DOJ is the political brain and nerve center of the executive branch. It controls investigations and prosecutions across the entire Federal government. Its power, and potential for corruption is immense.
All Presidents of the modern era have known this. Thats why its absolutely necessary to have a loyal ally as AG. JFK appointed his own brother - on the insistence of his Father Joe. Reagan had his old friend Ed Meese. Clinton had the bulldog Reno. Obama had fellow-traveller Holder and Lynch. He even made sure they were black, for extra security.
Thats why Trumps choice of Sessions was such a spectacular mistake. It nearly destroyed his Presidency.
Yet, nobody is going to jail years later.
I don’t see any democrap prosecutions. Seems there still is no rule of law established.
Barr is doing a terrible job.
No one of importance to the Deep State is ever going to prison.
Massive VOTER FRAUD = Communist Coup d’état
I won't be satisfied with some mid-level jerk offs, like the lovers, going to jail for show.
We need high level people, like comey, etal being prosecuted.
If a jury finds them not guilty, I will be pissed but I can live with the fact that the bad guys were brought to trial.
Hey, OJ, was acquitted, and he was so guilty.
Only works if obama, clintons etc are jailed.
Short of some indictments that are much needed of those “above the law”-————————crickets.....................
Really? Where’s the indictments?
IIRC, Sessions was the first Senator to endorse Trump. It did not seem a mistake when he did it. Then we lost the Senate seat, and got Mueller...
I wonder if today’s riots and some in the past are caused in part by a failure of the DOJ to uphold the rule of law over the past years? Considering the failure to charge any Antifa, BLM, or any of the demonrats involved in the plot to overthrow our elected government with the crimes they have committed, is it possible that many today believe that the rule of law no longer exists?
While A.G. Barr felt it was his job to protect the reputations of the FBI and the DOJ, his failure to hold certain violators accountable is causing a lot of mistrust of our legal system.
I am not making excuses for all rioters but simply pointing out a belief in certain areas that all in our government are corrupt and protecting themselves, this includes law enforcement at the local level.
KT MacFarland was just interviewed on Fox News, and she made it quite clear that by choosing investigators like Durham and Bash who are outside the beltway investigators, Barr is making it clear that he is dead serious about exposing the dirty dealings of OBAMAGATE!
Was VERY encouraging to hear McFarland—who is a staunch Flynn ally— say this!
I like KT. She seems to be one of the good guys. I can only hope I am proven completely and totally wrong about Barr if he takes actions this summer.
Government that does not fear its people is tyrrany.
Yeh, Deep State Criminals at Trial:
Barr = 0
Sessions = 0
Scalia certainly thought so.If you dont prosecute the perpetrators, and if you dont prosecute the media for providing air cover for the perps, you might as well just hang it up.
But you know what is really "antithetical to the preservation of a free and just society? It is the media. Which is actually a cabal of journalists united under the aegis of the AP and all other wire services. These create virtual meetings of all major journalism - and as Adam Smiths dictum put it,People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. The conspiracy against the public lies in the promotion of crisis mentality, along with the promotion of politicians who go along and get along with the crisis mentality of journalism. Crisis makes journalism seem important - and crisis makes government seem important.
Thus the synergy between journalism and the Democrat Party. Both promote big government - andSociety in every state is a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one. — Thomas Paine, Common Sense (1776)
