Did you hear Rush's first 20 minutes today? Rush gave an update on his health and treatments. He was vague and cryptic and it sounded to me like he's setting us up for his eventual demise. But that's just my take on it. God Bless Rush and Catherine. I hope and pray that he pulls through but a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis is almost always a death sentence. But I'm holding out hope that he does beat this. After all I had expected Alex Trebek to be gone by now after his stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Ive known several people in my life that passed quickly after such a diagnosis. Prayers for Rush and Catherine.
She’s there to support him now, and that’s what counts.
He wants to keep coming back to that microphone every day to point out the errors of the left and to defend the right. I wish him many many many more years at the golden microphone.

Agree. Jesus is our healer. May Jesus heal Rush completely and may the Holy Spririt turn Rush into one of the great evangelists our country has in recent times. We need a cheerful warrior for Christ on 600 radio stations.

He sounded a bit weak and shaky at first, but gradually got stronger as he went along. By the beginning of hour two, he sounded like the El Rushbo we’ve known all along.
I thought he had quavering in his voice. He must have, too, and checked with Snerdly. I think an electronic adjustment was made at Rush’s request.
He said he might not have the energy to fill the three hours, and has stand-ins ready.
Today was the first show where Rush didn’t have his usual optimism with the future.
One man had inoperable melanoma. It had spread in his peritoneal cavity. The surgeon didn't even try to remove it all. His wife was distraught. Some time later, he returned with symptoms of intestinal obstruction. Everyone assumed that the melanoma had caused it. When the surgeon opened his abdomen, to relieve the symptoms, all he found were adhesions. He couldn't find any trace of the melanoma. He biopsied several rather random places, but no carcinoma was found.
The other was a man with metastatic adenocarcinoma in the liver. It was demonstrated by X-ray and biopsy. He returned many months later with no symptoms. The X-rays showed no evidence of the carcinoma. There was nothing to biopsy.
In both cases, we feared that we had made an erroneous diagnosis. Just to reassure ourselves, we sent the X-rays, biopsies, et al. to a major US university, where I trained as a intern and resident. They agreed with the diagnosis and asked why we had sent so obvious a diagnosis for consultation. I explained that no evidence of the carcinoma could be found. Everyone was astonished.

When I was a medical student, childhood leukaemia was universally fatal. I prayed and prayed for a cure. Today most cases can be cured.
This is only on of many miracles I have witnessed.
I didn’t listen today, but the last time I heard him - maybe a week ago or so, I couldn’t believe that he has Stage 4 lung cancer. Doesn’t even sound like he has COPD.
What did he say about his voice strength? Perhaps the location of the cancer does not affect his breathing?

I did not hear the first part of his show today, but after reading the comments on this thread, I went to his web page and read the full transcript of his opening remarks. Admittedly, it's tougher to gauge the full impact of his comments without actually hearing the tone of his voice and any emotions that may have been present as he spoke. That being said, my impression is that Rush is preparing the audience for the distinct possibility that he may not be able to do his show much longer, or at the very least, not nearly as often as he does now. I realize that miracles do happen, and I hope Rush is the recipient of one of those miracles. However, as much as I would like to believe otherwise, I don't think the outlook is good.
When I was in school (I was a Cytologist) the fatality rate was very high, too. Over my 40 years in the field, it was simply an amazing turnaround. I believe it is around 94% that achieve ‘cure’ and most go on to live good and pretty long lives. A definite success story.
I have a sister-in-law who lives in Charlotte and friends who live in Charlotesville and I’ve had a hard time keeping those two cities straight when I talk about them. Just like Frederick, MD and Fredericksburg, VA, both of which were near me when I lived near Andrews AFB in MD.

And just a few days ago, I called a hotel in Gaithersburg, MD and they asked me if it was them I wanted or was trying to get the chain’s hotel in Gaithersburg, TN; the gentleman said they had been getting a lot of calls to recently when folks wanted the G-burg, TN hotel. I just chuckled and said, no, I wanted their hotel in MD.
LOL...I’m surprised they didn’t know it was Gatlinburg, TN....
