Historians have generally attributed the rise of the Nazi Party to multiple structural causes, including the economic and social devastation wrought by the First World War and the widespread frustrations among the German population about the post-war Weimar Republic. Blickle did not directly address those broader factors, but the paper did control for the influences of local unemployment, city spending, population changes brought about by the war, and local demographics.
lies, damned lies and statistics
Hope coronavirus does not strengthen our own national socialists.
The only way that theory would parallel this century’s flu is that our National Socialists/Democratic party is taking advantage of the “crisis” and trying to consolidate their dictatorial plans.
And the Treaty of Versailles had nothing to do with it.
Silly me.
Pretty much what I was going to post. I guess the author never heard of the German defeat in WWI.
This is just prep for November.
President Trump will win re-election. Then they can say “It’s the Nazis all over again! You get this epidemic thing, and WHAM! Fascists get elected! Happens every time!”
you have to laugh when you see who came up with this rubbish:
NY Fed: Kristian S. Blickle
He received his Ph.D. from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland in 2018.

OK, time to invoke Godwin’s Law.
We actually pay people to put out studies almost 80 years after the fact? Someone needs to look at the funding for this.
I meant 100 years!
.
SO the Growing Threat of Communism had nothing to do with it ???
1917 Revolution has ‘ties’ to Nazi gains.
.
It’s put out by the Creature from Jekyll Island.
Nuff said.
The only Phd this guy has is in dumbass.
Hitler spent less than a year in prison of his 5 year sentence. It was anything but a struggle. He had 330 visitors and was able to throw wine and beer parties. His time there was compared to being at a holiday camp. When he was released in 1924, there was no one there to pick him up. Nobody needed him at that time.
At that time the “Roaring 20s” weren’t just here in America. Germany recovered fairly quickly during the 20s and even though they had to pay war reparations they were able to get plenty of loans all over. Things were great there. That all ended with the crash of 1929. All loans were called in and Germany couldn’t pay them back. Never learned in school that the Great Depression was a worldwide event. Most nations were hit hard by it except Italy. They were the only major country that came through it OK.
“right-wing extremists, such as the National Socialist Workers Party
Gee very unbiased, not.
I’m drafting Blickel for my fantasy history team.
This Blickle-character seems to know next to nothing on German history. I would dump this report in the trash.
There were a lot of things going on in Germany after the war. Not sure the flu brought on the NAZIs.
