Is Trump a great innovator in democratic leadership? How well are his methods working now in the crisis of the pandemic?

You are right of course. No, the death toll doesn’t have to be that high. A rapid buildup of the use of the Trump Drug would slow it way down.

But it hasn’t slowed down much yet although we are on the verge. But that is with all the restrictions that we are abiding by. As we start to remove those restriction, a certainty, the death curves will tend to reverse and head up again.

I wish I had more faith that our government and particularly our Governors could get their act together fast enough to really start walking down the death rate. I think they could. I am less hopeful that they will. Even with Trump at the helm.

Yes.

Why reject an FDA approved drug when no one really knows what to do to get a perfect outcome?

Trust me, I’m not advocating for more controls. I’m very Libertarian on that subject. I just see a bleaker future than most here at good old FR.

But a really good and fast implementation of testing, isolating the infected and treating the hospitalized (and possibly the not quite ready to be hospitalized) with the known life saving treatment could change all that.

I’m hopeful but not confident. Not yet.

I’m not talking about Biden. He’s a pawn and a nobody, like the leashed adolescent nephew of a second tier mobster.

No, I’m talking about Trump’s enemies. The ones whose traditional power moves have been coming up empty. To be them right now would be worse than horrible.

It’s not clear to me which will be their greater loss—Trump’s ultimate, crushing victory over them or the unexpected failure of their most prized and precious device.

I agree that a fast solution or reduction of damage would be great.

But I worry about measures where one act of congress adds 50% of American GDP to the annual federal budget with no clear end in sight.

How do you fell about that?

Hopeful is great.

American optimism is magic.

But so is fiscal prudence.

I think he’s doing a great job - especially with how careful they were to insure maximum panic as he started engaging...he has used federal horsepower to obtain/distribute supplies and to push some of the companies who care less about America than their own personal bank accounts - and he mentions the Constitution often when asked why he doesn’t force certain actions among the States ...

I believe it is so stated by a founder that “democracy is not what we have chosen”.

Polls are not a reflection of currant thought, but, intended to persuade that same thought. Do you know anyone who states;”i cannot again vote for Trump”? i do not. I do know dozens who admit voting democrat who freely say;”never again democrat”.

Try a google search for, what did the founding fathers say about democracy. Madison speaks out boldly against it, reiterating Plato, tyranny naturally arises from democracy.
