They’re not dealing with people sick with a virus during the summer. Nantucket Cottage Hospital probably deals with mundane issues like broken bones etc. They will fly you to Boston for very serious problems. It’s not a very large place.

Didn’t Dare County in NC close to all non-residents?

I was just going to post that I would appreciate it if the snowbirds would go home already. Deplete your own grocery stores and leave the groceries for those if us who live and pay taxes here year round. I am beyond fed up.

In our rural Oregon Coast community we import ER doctors for the summer. Our hospital will not be able to handle any virus outbreak with just the residents, let alone over loaded with outsiders.

Whats the problem.
“It’s just the flu bro, wash your damn hands”.
Hasn’t that been the mantra around FR for the last month?

We have the same problem, opposite seasons. City dwellers presently fleeing to their nort woots cabins with nothing but a can of ravioli and not enough sense to bring a can opener.

Yep. Just like when the Italian government announced it would be locking down the northern region many northern Italians fled to stay with their southern relatives. In packed trains. COVID-19 is definitely coming to southern Italy.

Under current thinking, they are ‘visitors’, not years long residents. Therefore, yes, they could bring the crap with them to a small insulated area, and fuck it up for everybody else.
That would make them a threat to society, etc.

How true. It goes way back.

That it does. Here's DeFoe's comments about the 1665 London Plague:

Upon the foot of all these observations I must say, that though Providence seemed to direct my conduct to be otherwise, yet it is my opinion, and I must leave it as a prescription, viz., that the best physic against the plague is to run away from it. I know people encourage themselves by saying God is able to keep us in the midst of danger, and able to overtake us when we think ourselves out of danger; and this kept thousands in the town, whose carcases went into the great pits by cartloads, and who, if they had fled from the danger, had, I believe, been safe from the disaster; at least 'tis probable they had been safe.

Daniel DeFoe, Journal of the Plague Year, 1722

Those in Western Pa who worked in NY city brought it back with them and it spread like wild fire. Same with Maryland.
