A lot of people have always bought more toilet paper than is needed to get through whatever period of time..I always have. It’s not a new thing. Maybe it’s because I grew up using a Sears catalog in an outhouse....HA!

“”Because I don’t see how the traditional use of tp can stop the flu.””

I hope you’re joking......

Shows how many impulsive people there are. No forethought. My mom is like this and it makes me crazy.

Haven’t bought toilet paper for several months but still have enough to last a year. Prepping is not spur of the moment.

Hoard it. Soon, a run on Pantene.
Cigs & Pantene are currency in a crisis.

I bet William Devane feels like a sucker now :)

Old wash clothes can also be washed in hot water with bleach in a pinch (provided they are white.)

So many won't think of it at the outset.

Next up, a run on bidets.

That's the nice thing waterfalls. Nature's bidet. Just stick your butt in the cataract. Of course you have to walk twenty yards through the woods to get to it, and the woods are thick with ticks this year, so...

CV-19 or Lyme Disease. So many choices...

Because everybody knows that EVERYONE ELSE will grab the toilet paper if a lockdown in imminent, so you better be first.

Me, I have a Costco-size case in my garage, so I’m all set. Heh

People are afraid that the paper plants are going to shut down.

Hard to imagine the mentality of some of some of these replies. Who doesn’t prepare ahead for any eventuality? We lived in CA until retirement and with weather calamities there, we were always prepared and now living in the south - it’s the same but it’s somewhat different here as most of what you could stock would be smashed or blown away in hurricanes and tornadoes. In an earthquake you could take your survival items and camp out in a park - if you survived the quake.

Personally toilet paper is one thing I wouldn’t want to run out of!!!! Maybe others feel differently????? So be it but we don’t knock it, do we?

Nope, not joking.

Please explain how someone wiping their butt can stop the spread of the flu.

I'd also like to know how stockpiling bottled water stops the flu.

This isn’t a gastrointestinal thing the Coronavirus so you won’t be needing that much toilet paper. But its so bad that in Australia a family accidentally ordered 12 year supply of toilet paper from the website Who Gives A Crap.

Yesterday I went to the local Giant Eagle to get my coffee on sale and noticed all the toilet paper was gone! Also they were hitting the bottled water pretty hard too.

They are! This is insane. Ok so let’s say you run out of TP and paper towels. Good grief use a wash cloth. If all are used, jump in the shower and clean your butt. Probably only need to once or twice a day at most. This is so ridiculous.

We bought extra TP a few weeks ago as part of bulking up our pantry. Since this thing started I have been worried (ok, maybe paranoid) about supply chain disruptions and their impact on our household. We have 9 people in our household, 6 of them are children, and we have experienced running out of TP and it’s not good. It’s hard for me to ration TP, and impossible to enforce rationing on kids. We still have episodes where it is strung out from the bathroom, across the entryway and into the living room. We still have episodes where an entire roll is dropped into the toilet or inexplicably sitting on the floor completely wet. Yes, they sometimes use it to wrap their heads in.

And that’s just TP. I also worry about keeping them fed. I don’t want a “Lord of the Flies” scenario playing out in my house. (Five of the kids are my relative’s, I’m not the parent, so I don’t have the total authority- it’s complicated).

I understand the TP craze. It’s hard not to be in control. We barely are when things are going “well”.
