Outbreaks confirmed in new countries as Iran’s deputy health minister says he has tested positive for coronavirus.
About 50 pupils and staff at a school in County Antrim have been sent home as a precaution against coronavirus after they went on a ski trip to northern Italy.
The Cambridge House grammar school group are showing no symptoms and did not visit any of the affected towns – but they were in the Lombardy region and were sent home as a “precautionary” measure, the principal, Elma Lutton, said.
Two schools in Cheshire have also taken precautionary steps after half-term ski trips to Italy, with Cransley school in Northwich completely closing and Brine Leas academy in Nantwich closing its sixth form due to staff shortages as a result of teachers self-isolating.
If you don’t have enough food to survive a 2-3 month quarantine you are almost out of time to prepare!!!
Wells Fargo warns of coming Shortages, warns of Walmart and Target with empty shelves!!!! Italian stores already wiped clean after only a couple of days after the outbreak in Italy. American stores will be wiped clean and you will see riots!

Wife made me go to cash over the weekend...guess she called it right for now.
It was stated in a previous thread that the virus can spread thru A/C Hearing ducts.
There has never been a flu epidemic in the USA after April and there won’t be one now.
If we can just keep CV out of the general population until then, we may have a few nasty clusters. But, there will not be a mass epidemic.
What is said over the Tenirifle island episode...Italian doctor on vacation had symptoms. Tested the guy....has the virus, but they are running second test on him. Meanwhile, they ordered all 1,000 guests to stay in their room until each one was tested and results known. Just guessing, but getting this done and results back....probably 3 days.
I suspect virtually everyone is prepared to leave the resort now, as soon as the quarantine is lifted.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
I have maybe a dumb question about this due to my lack of knowledge about how heat and AC work.
I live in a 1960 build apartment building. We don’t have central a/c, so that’s not an issue for disease spread. We have old steam heat through radiators. Should I assume that means that in my building there is no chance of spread through ductwork?
I know spread through plumbing is a different thing, but I’ve been wondering about the whole ductwork story as I am unfortunately a girlie girl about this stuff and don’t really understand anything about HVAC. :)
Agree with you. This over-hyped bare shelves rioting in the streets stuff only exacerbates the panic and fear.

My guess would be it could probably be spread to the same people in your home who breath the same air. Likewise people who live in different apartments that use the same system could contract it. JMHO

No central air and steam heat probably means no ducts. However, the virus seems to spread through aerosol means so if a person with the virus sneezed in your hallway a few minutes before you walk in it you could become infected. Also, any droplets which land on your doorknob could transmit the virus. Theoretically of course.

Supposedly the disease does not spread through the air—touch of a surface (living or non-living) is required.
Wearing gloves (not masks) is your best defense.
You can investigate this further to confirm or deny.
