Were they defining deviancy down? Did it work? Did all Christians such as my Irish Catholic forbearers regard abstinence as next to holiness? My Protestant forbearers did, but they all seem to drink today.
There is a difference between personal commitment to Christ and perpetual government persecution of sinners. The former leads to a healthy society but the latter leads to Massachusetts witchhunts and 21st-century socialist tyranny.
Yes this is a Christian site, but it is also a conservative and a libertarian site because most of us have taken another history lesson from The 30 Years War and have regard for the sanctity of the First Amendment.
