“They can and should put him in SEAL training, perhaps even teaching a military law course or an international law course. That would be a good use of his experience (I had a comparable though somewhat different case for an instructor in my training pipeline)”
No, keel hauling in most navies ended long ago. A better punishment to bring back for this waste of rank would be a more traditional punishment, also going back to the wooden sailing ships; kissing the gunner’s daughter.
“Patton was put in charge of an army of paper pushers. I cant recall the name but they were charged with writing history of the war.”
Though he loved history, he hated that job. He was a man of action and believed that his best end would have been to die in combat on the last day of the war. He knew that peace, especially in retirement, would have been like purgatory for him. He might have been happy being the Commandant of West Point, but that would probably never have happened - PC was already starting, and he was its antithesis.
I don't think that admiral needs another "order", because if he continues on his current path, he will find out about the job market with the beltway bandits {which is still very good}.
Any admiral with decent contacts would start in the mid six figures with bonus options that could push it to seven figures.
Ya gotta remember, a retired admiral can pick up his phone and talk with his admiral pals that are still on active duty, and get face to face meetings, etc.
He publicly announced the order via Twitter. Be assured a valid order was issued.
so many operatives...
Bttt
Reduce Rear Adm Greens Rank.
Take back his Trident.
Then relieve him of command.
No. Now, with the advent of Obama de tuning America’s military might and readiness, service requirements and qualifications, they now willingly look forward to a month in the barrel.
Getting Chief out of the the Detention Center and giving him back his rank was perfect. Getting deeper into the woods and making a decision as to whether or not Chief stays in the teams... not so much in my opinion. I think CIC is out of line here. 154 SEALs and SWCCs had their pins pulled by the Trident Review Board (TRB) since 2011. If Chief DIDN’T go to TRB, everyone else would firmly believe he was getting special treatment... which is what it would be. I firmly believe Chief knew he was going to go in front of the TRB with the POSSIBILITY of loosing his pin. He’s going to TRB with three other frogs, all officers, all within his chain of command or who were there. Please keep this in mind... the admiral initiated the board, but he is NOT a part of the board and he only acts on the board’s recommendation. The board is made up of Chief’s peers and if they say he keeps his pin, he keeps it. If they rescind it, it’s gone.
I will say there have been folks in front of the TRB who lost their pins for much worse things than taking a pic of an enemy combatant. Chief has a pretty good chance here I think.
No lawyers involved, he can’t introduce evidence... he’s pretty much at their mercy.
If I was Trump Id fire him immediately. Hes no good.
Not that would be too easy. New assignment to Diego Garcia and reduced rank.
Yes I did serve - 6 years 9 months and 23 days US Army Infantry.
“Orders” come via official channels. Recommendations, thoughts, desires, wishes and twitter accounts are not “Orders”.
ONE WORD
After Kelly, McMaster, and Mattis I have lost a lot of respect for high level Pentagon brass. If one of them was a bad actor operating in bad faith, okay. All three? That's a pattern.
One word?
I believe in President Trump reversing the “death to America” obama agenda.
America is coming back!
Promoted by Trump to his current 2 star rank:
Special Operations Command Souths Commander U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Collin P. Green was promoted to the rank of rear admiral (upper half) during a ceremony Dec. 1, 2017, at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida.
The promotion comes after Defense Secretary Jim Mattis in March announced that the president had nominated Green, a U.S. Navy SEAL and a Bowie, Maryland native, for appointment to the rank.
It would have been fascinating to read his memoirs.
Patton was indeed a complex man. I find him to be a fascinating figure.
Unless he isn't. Hope that makes your panties wad up.
You again? I don’t recall pissing in your Wheaties, but if you’re looking for a fight, I’m game. Bring it old man.
Trump should fire him. Among other things, it will serve to remind the military that Trump is CiC and wont stand for insubordination.
