I wonder how the naming of Bill O’Reilly’s name of his book, The Killing of Patton, colors people’s impression of the content.
The audiobook is 8 CDs long — and you don’t need 8 CDs to talk about the conspiracy.
Actually the book is really about the close of our war with Germany — the remaining last year of the War — as seen from Patton’s perspective and how the rest of the world was reacting to him. It’s a great story. I don’t care too much about the supposed topic of the book.
I don’t think there is much doubt that Patton died from an accident.
I used to sometimes search court house records at Abbeville, the county seat of Henry County, Alabama. A woman who worked at the probate judge’s office had an interesting connection to Patton.
Her husband was his driver for most of the war. After he came home, Patton’s new driver was a young aggressive driver and Patton loved his fast driving.
In the movie, they had Patton’s early driver have a strong Southern accent. A nice touch if it was on purpose.
thx
OMuslim got rid of almost everyone above Lt Col.
...baring some sort of injury... Yep busted right knee that required two surgeries. The surgeries left me service connected but not really disabled - so kinda fixed. I can walk and trot but running is still a problem. However, during the Clinton draw down, any excuse to show someone the door was used so not really an option to stay in.
I didn’t say that they should be ignored, just that the appearance of a general text on a social media platform does not constitute a lawful order. There are several question that can pop up regarding a text or twitter.
- Is this really from the President?
- Is this “official”?
- When, where, who, how etc
- In this particular case, the text appears to conflict with standard proceedure or existing regulation. Best to be absolutely sure that it is an order.
As an a lawful order is a clear communmication of an action to take or not take. A text on twitter is not via official channels and thus need to be qualified before being followed. As hyperbole, lets use the example of a tweet of “I wish xxx project was stopped.”
Does that mean kill xxx project entirely?
Does that mean suspend the project?
Does that just represent a desire but a willingness to allow the project to continue?
Does that me not only to stop the project but to begin an investigation against those in the project?
etc
That is why the military is training to follow LAWFUL ORDERS.
Lawful - does not contravine laws or regulations
Orders - official direction
If it is confirmed as being an order, yes absolutely follow it.
If I was his attorney, I would advise him to confirm the order via official channals.
The RADM is following a permissable course of action per regulation. The President APPEARS to want that regulation over ridden. Regulations always have exceptions and those exceptions are normally very specific processes. This communication would appear to be outside of normal process.
Confirming that an exception has been granted is a wise course of action for any officer to take.
This chump REMF was not following established protocol, but took it upon himself to begin additional punitive procedures. He should have cleared his proposal with the Commander in Chief before flapping his toothless gums to the press.
He doesnt need an official order from the president to knock it off. It he moves forward with any punitive action at this point, he can kiss his own career goodbye. He knows how the President feels. He needs to knock it off and get back to work.
It was clear what the commander in chief wants. The Secretary of the Navy and the Admiral can choose their own course but it seems the height of foolishness to cross this President when he has been very clear about what he wants.
Bravo Mr. President
