Many restaurants are catering to online delivery sites likes Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats and not allowing customers to eat in-house
NEW YORK (AP) — Frato’s Pizza looks like a typical family restaurant, with its black-and-white checkered floor and red chairs. But in the kitchen, the cooks are whipping up dishes for four other restaurants at the same time.
There is, of course, the gourmet pizza that patrons have come to expect from Frato’s when they walk through the door. But there are also spicy chicken gyros for Halal Kitchen, barbecue chicken tenders for Tenderlicious, salmon grilled cheese for Cheesy Deliciousness, and Butterfinger milkshakes for Heavenly Shakes — all of which can only be ordered through online sites Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats.
Owner Michael Kudrna launched the four spinoffs earlier this year in a matter of weeks as he races to keep his Chicago-area business ahead of a growing trend: restaurants conceived only for delivery or take-out.

Only take out food available?
I can see some cost savings, without needing hired help as waiters or as many people to clean up.
Personally, fast food or delivery is fine sometimes, but there are times it’s nice to get out of the house and go sit down for dinner out, even if it’s something simple such as pizza. Just my opinion, it’s nice to have the choice.
Cue the stat that 60% of all Grubhub and Door Dash food delivery drivers have eaten from the customers food. A dozen French fries here, a fish stick there. Who needs those croutons on their salad?
I just hope they washed their hands. I am waiting for robots to deliver all that stuff. They don’t eat your food.
Yeah, I like using delivery services sometimes, but primarily for convenience. The downside is that the food can never be as hot and fresh as it would be eating at the restaurant. I don’t think I’d want too many restaurants to go to an all-delivery model.

It’s actually very smart. No one cooks at home anymore. Except for me and a handful of others.
I’ve noticed that they no longer advertise for those boxes of ingredients that they’ll ship to you so you CAN cook at home. They were every other add for the past few years! (And they are ridiculously expensive!)
I see Martha Stewart recently got into it, but she’s way behind the curve on that dead trend, which is unusual for her.
I’ll bet people would cook at home for their PETS , though.

Wow. A take-out restaurant. No one’s ever thought of that before. This could take off. I mean, take out.
A lot of the overhead in a restaurant is with the dining room and all that goes with it, including a waitstaff (with high turnover), dishwashers, maitre d's and whatnot.
Just get a first class kitchen, some decent, dependable cooks, a capable shift manager and have a nice website (and mobile phone app) to bring in the orders. Contracting with other restaurants to produce dishes for them is also a nice little niche to get into.
it’s awful...like all the cell phone orders which take precedent at places like Starbucks (where I only go if I absolutely HAVE TO anyway) at the expense of customers who give their orders in-store.

They do that here in L.A. The smaller restos’ I know of just do Doordash and Uber Eats. One of my faves’ relocated to a 5 table place instead of the 20 tables they had.

And how many other creatures can walk up to you, ass first, present their behinds to you, have you happily scratch said behinds, and get you to want to do it all over again? Many dogs figure out ways to own their people. I know, I’m a dog victim.
I learned to cook in self defense, prior to returning to the Marine Corps for my third enlistment after a hitch with the Airforce.
I don’t eat out much because my food is better.
You can’t even pick up your own order with some of them in the inner city.
Which makes it hard to get in and hold them up.
